I live in Europe now and don't follow Quebec local news that much.
I've always been a bit curious what you're doing in Slovenia. You're a PhD student, right? Is there a particularly good university [for you specialty] in Ljubljana?

Yes. The Math Department of the University of Ljubljana has an excellent group in Algebraic Graph Theory (my specialty).

I think his list is bigger than your list ... albeit a bit, erm, older...

I'd love to see which NHL team has the largest number of #1 draft picks in its history... (not sure how far back draft goes and/or how far back record and draft picks are tied together)

Maybe my math is wrong, but 93 is more recent than 89.

Most of those don't even count. They pre-date the NHL. And most of the ones in the NHL were in the 6-team era, where even the Maple Leafs could win a lot of cups.

                        • The NHL wasn't a real league until Calgary had a team.

We should have thought of that in 1545 when the english did, and flooded the place with French people instead of keeping people in europe to fight England.

I mean, we do have a different culture, thats a fact, but our time is counted. We are only 5,000,000.

Even if we had our own country, it would be a small country in an ocean of anglos....Christ, we have more english TV channels than french...But THATS not important...Politicians are aholes. Period.

Hell, what a defeatist mood! The French core has survived there for centuries. And there is no reason it cannot continue like this in the future. You underestimate the national drive a relatively small group of people may have in an ocean of another culture. Gaining independence would greatly help. Sure, even if independent, you will have to remain essentially bilingual. There is no escape from English, c'est la vie. But, what is important, you will be in a better position to conserve the French part of you.

Belgium, for instance, cannot split due to the problem of Brussels. As for Quebec, there is seemingly no such obstacle. Perhaps you'll just lose financially?
Freedom is just unawareness of being manipulated.
