Hey now, don't interpret my random jab at the jackass attorneys as taking a serious stance on anything.

In fact, don't interpret any of my posts as taking a serious stance on anything.
      Unbelievable!

          Alright. You are excused.

          My list gets shorter.

I'd like Lefty to address to real issue instead of the 5:00 Strawman though. If it is procedure for filings in DP cases to be accepted up until the execution why was this not followed. The best I seem to get on that is b/c the defence attorneys weren't polite enough (again, not a shred of evidence to support this) their client gets killed.

A fine example. The sudden loss of blood pressure to the brain should cause instant unconsciousness before any pain signals reach it, but nobody wants to deal with the cleanup or the visuals, so there you go.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

How do you know that? Talked to someone who's been guillotined lately?

              • I've heard it commonly repeated. Doesn't make it true of course.

                • Usually, when the heart stops (for whatever reason), the person immediately falls unconscious, and retains no memory of the event upon resusitation. At least, that's what I've heard, and the experiences of a friend with a severely weakened heart backs that up.

I think that correlates well with this.

                  • Sure they might not remember details after the fact, but that doesn't mean they didn't feel extreme pain in the seconds or fractions of seconds before blacking out. In fact, I've heard/read many people describing the feeling of an elephant stepping on the chest, etc. If there's adequate time for a pain message to reach the brain from the chest, it makes sense one would come from the neck no less quickly.

Anyway, these problems would all be solved by executing with a hat made out of C-4. Gruesome as it may be, I can't think of anything more painless.

                    • How about nitrogene asphyxiation?

Anyway, what makes you so certain they wouldn't feel how their skull cracks before the brain starts cracking?

Even if not necessarily painless, that'd be gradual enough that the guy has to be out of breath and terrified for several minutes. The hat would be nice and quick.

Their skull wouldn't noticeably crack; the evenly distributed bowl-shaped plastique would literally vaporize the entire head in nanoseconds.

                          John Kramer (Jigsaw) would approve.

Per Wiki, a neuron's action potential can be between 10-100 meters per second, whereas C-4 detonates at 8,040 mps. I rest my case.

That man had the right idea. He can't be forgiven for the sequels however.
