    The primary system sucks anyway.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

GePap: If the DNC sticks to its guns, I can't see an actual reason why they would come out and vote in the primary. Why would you got to the effort of voting when you were being explicitly told your vote wouldn't count? It's already a low enough reward activity as is reducing its rewards to nil can't help but depress turnout.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Last time I looked its the General Election that matters, not primaries.

Then why strip FL or Michigan of its delegation if they matter so little?

The whole primary system needs an overhaul REALLY BADLY. Iowa and New Hampshire shouldn't be the first all the time and no primary needs to be earlier then, say, 3 or 4 months before the party national convention, I'll say space the primaries out between May and July and set up a rotation system so that each state gets to be in the first round of primaries once every few elections. The results of the primary elections also should not be released until all primaries have been held.

parties can do whatever they want to run their method of selecting their candidate. Obviously, given that the parties have chosen this current system, they find it important to keep order.

Penalizing 2 states to make sure 48 others keep in line is harsh, but then, if they think its necesary to keep order, they will do so.

Will FL or MI democrats stay home in November? 99% chance they won't. And that is again, the only date that matters.

More important to the election is which way the SC rules on the voter ID laws.

Why? Are Dems more prone to vote fraudulently? So far that case seems to be going for the MS Dems (the only ID case I've been keeping track of) much to their chagrin.

I guess a party that can't attract non-white voters must do everything it can to keep minorites from voting.

Does this mean you're conceeding the field to me? Bringing race into a question into which it doesn't exist seems pretty close to Godwin to me.

Hey, it ain't Democrats that refuse to sit down at a debate hosted by Tavis Smiley, or refuse to go on Univision for a debate.

And of course, saying race doesn;t enter into the voter ID law question is the kind of answer I would expect anyhow.

I actually agree with Newt here and think that skipping those forums was a mistake especially for the top tier candidates to do so but I will point out that not all Republican candidates skipped them. I wish they had done them.

If you'd care to point out how you think it does, that might help the discussion along rather than allowing it to degenerate into a mutual sneering contest which will only serve to annoy me.

The TX Republicans were trying to pass a voter ID law that required both a picture ID and proof of citizenship to register to vote (because everyone has a passport or birth certificate laying around). To be fair, the law didn't intend to disenfranchise only minorities, but less wealthy people in general...

Of course, the whole point is that this is a virtually non-existent problem. If that weren't the case, the whole US Attorney scandal wouldn't have been one. The US Electoral Assistance Commission pointed out that these sorts of laws do very little as far as actually addressing voting fraud, and have the primary effect of substantially reducing minority turnout.

ID laws are primarily targeted at groups which tend to vote for the Dumbocrats, groups which also tend to have trouble getting ids: the elderly, Blacks, Hispanics, working folks. The GOP was well aware of this when it decided to move forward with these laws.

While there is some minor vote fraud from these sources, the biggest sources of vote fraud are from the GOP: voter intimidation and stuffing absentee ballots.
