Is this the precursor to raging biblical homophobia and other such antiquated beliefs and superstitions that we come to expect from you?

If you want to base ethics on the natural telos of the human organism, then I'm all for it (in my idiosyncratic Neo-Aristotelian way), but you'd have to institute a pretty severe set of laws to deal with it.

For example: not only will there be no sexual perversion, but there will also be compulsory sex education to make sure you are getting the best out of it, and there will be no listening to crap music, and no watching of mindless television.

Personally, I think smoking (and other drug use) is a choice that should be left to the individuals themselves--so long as it doesn't really harm others.

(Secondhand smoke is not an argument I buy, since secondhand smog from cars and factories is pretty lethal too.)

          Diversity > Conformity

Also I personally believe that homosexuality does have a positive role in the fitness of a species. The basic theme is that not every member of a tribe needs to breed, so that it's beneficial for some to not waste their energies on breeding - in fact the tribe is even more fit with some members not distracted by breeding. I may be wrong there, but in any case it works even better in the context of post-evolution humanity - there is certainly no need for every member of society to breed.

I do support genetic correction of debilitating illness but I'm generally extremely leery of any genetic engineering which reduces diversity. That shouldn't be extended to GE'ing to increase diversity - I say, the fairest way is to just leave it up to nature. That way parents can't have (even more) unreasonable expectations and kids can't blame their parents (even more).

I'd love to know when the people who think sexuality is a choice sat down and thought "Hmmmmmm. Shall I spend the rest of my life getting erections about boobs and mimsies, or willies and knackers?"

If you're bi then it is indeed just like that, I think.

I wish you would NOT talk down to people. You are British and gel your hair...this does not mean you know more than everyone who has ever lived. I am extremely thirsty so I am leaving to get some sort of diet soda..

Why is diversity innately good? It could be argued that it makes the human race more adaptable, but if that were the case, it would be permissable to genetically modify humans to improve the adaptability even more.

I have yet to see your substantive 'proof' for your statement that 'homosexuality is a disorder'.

I can't prove that you have less intelligence than a mentally challenged numbat, but I can certainly offer a guesstimate.

You then go on to make yourself look like an idiot by thinking that I believe in god
I don't think about you at all. If possible, I think about your beliefs even less.

Here's what you said, in case in your unseemly haste to label me an idiot you have already forgotten:

Are you trying to say it was intentionally made that way by god?

I take it that 'god' was a reference to a supernatural deity, and not an involuntary typing of an orgasmic utterance on your part ?

One never knows what people might be doing at their keyboards...

Just so we're clear, I don't believe in god.

                            Fabulous!

I'm sorry we're all out of welcome introductory Tupperware sets at Atheist Central.

                            Will you take vouchers ?

Starchild...pretty much same reply as molly bloom...equally as shallow. I expect that from you two though.

Aaah, how sweetly predictable. EyesOfNight's limply banal rejoinders- really putting the 'ass' into asinine.

                            Keep up the good work.

Those too dark. Those too light. Those not particularly good-looking....

The left handed. The gifted. The non-gifted. Twins.

The list of what is considered 'the norm' and 'not the norm' by different human societies now and previously, is quite lengthy.

In Ancient Greece sex between a teenage boy and an adult male was acceptable, even desirable.

Now it can be an offence in many parts of the world.

In some African societies, twins were considered an ill-omen and put to death. Happily that is not the case in the U.S.A. for the Bush girls.

What unalloyed joys and privileges of heterosexuality did you have in mind ?

Specifically, what am I supposed to be excluded from because of my sexuality, that could not be remedied by future legislation or better education and changes in societal attitudes ?
