    Low blow, dude...
Possibly. However the fact he's following in Oerdin's path of viewing people who disagree with him as being racist makes it painful to hold a long conversation with him over this issue.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

He's not so strident about it, though. I understand that che thinks we're all capitalist running dog oppressors, but I never get the feeling that he hates us because of it.

The lacking "political will" isn't on the part of the government -- it isn't even a lack of political will, per se. Enforcing border control laws, whether from '86 or in the future, requires a ****load of new spending. Unfortunately, the political constituency that demands tighter border enforcement tends to be the very same political constituency that gets a hard-on every time GOP politicians cut taxes. These people are the ones that need to get some "political will," and need to put their money where their mouths are. But I'm not holding my breath...

              14% approval rating.

              We'll see....

              • The folks who talk about the illegal immigration problem in American never talk about Canadian or Irish illegal immigration, both large groups.
Are there 12 million Canuk or Irish illegal immigrants? The illegal immigration problem in America is centered on the southern border che, you can use semantics to paint it as some racist bent, but the reality is most people are simply applying common sense.

Applying common sense also lets everyone realize that you don't really care about Mexicans or racism, it is just a convenient stereotype to paint your enemies with. Not surprising, the ends justify the means for "true revolutionaries."

Congress has a 14% approval rating. The Democratic party, on the other hand, just outpolled the GOP for the first time ever on the question, "Whom do you trust most to combat terrorism and keep America safe." The GOP's significant advantage on that question was at the heart of their 2002 an 2004 victories; losing popular support to the Dems there (as well as eveywhere else) is a titanic problem for them.

Which doesn't mean the Dems won't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, as usual.

I'm old enough to remember when there were only two million illegal immigrants. It was the same **** then. Fact is, in some parts of the country, there are significant portions of white illegal immigrants, and yet in Chicago I never heard anyone saying we should send back the Poles or the Irish, only the "damn Beaners."

That's cuz I don't hate you, nor do I think of you as oppressors. You are running dogs, though, as Mao defined the term.

I only hate one person, and he's actually a socialist. Go figure.

I don't think Oerdin hates you either. He's just gotten exceedingly shrill. Even when I agree with him, he's painful to read. Sad.

As Rufus notes, that's all of Congress, not the Democrats. The Democrats in Congress saw their approval rating fall from 55% to less than 50% after they voted to fund the war. It was a significant hit, but I expect that even if they continue funding the war through next year, their base will hold their noses and vote DP anyway, since they, really, really, hate the GOP. It's not like they're gonna vote for me.

Did I mention I'm planning to run for Congress next year?

                            • I'm running against a very powerful Congresswoman. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is the number 4 Democrat in the House, and this is her second term. She's one of Clinton's national co-chairs.
