  • Do the Kaczynski twins want to destroy Europe?

Short part from a BBC article:

Poland has threatened to block the new constitution, unless its demands are met, but is coming under intense pressure to drop its objections.
    full: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6753935.stm

What's with this veto **** all the time? It's called European *Union* for a reason. Let's hope they come to their senses soon. Otherwise they could find themselves very alone one day.

It's called a CONSTITUTION for a reason as well.

Would you want to adopt a constitution you find crap?

And yeah, it's a union, we don't even need a constitution. It's one of your imperialist bastard mindsets working here again.

For them it's not about being crap or not as such, they're just paranoid that Germany is still after them, and that it will have too much power with the new rules.

would this be the same constitution that was rejected by voters in holland and france and is now being repackaged and forced through anyway?

i hope the poles wreck the whole thing.

European Union. They're on strike. What's your complaint?

I think the system proposed by Kaczynskis is clearer and better for EU. The objective of Kaczynskis isn't quite to make Poland strong, strong, strong, but to not let Germany and three-four other biggest countries be too strong. The system proposed by them has more avantage for the smallest countries than the medium ones.
While I think Kaczynski is a bit late, and it is insane to claim from the start he will veto, You have to understand that for once, Poland got very bad entry conditions, but it was said that, thanks to Nice system of voting, we'll be able to gain more in the future. And now certain EU countries want to take away the only thing that polish politicians were pleased with, and expect Poland and other countries to accept that without complaining. The mistake of Kaczynskis isn't quite their stance, but the way of presenting it. They really suck at that. They should've found allies first, because now, though Poland is fighting for the benefit of most EU members but Germany, Italy, UK and France, it seems it is fighting for its own interest only.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. indeed. the EU has never been one to let democracy stand in the way of 'progress'.

France takes great share of that money. Germany is responsible for that we are poor, and did much to make Poland not sure about its motives and goals. I do not apply that to Merkel, I kind of like her and think she's one of few who actually tries to do some things right.

When it comes to subsidies of various kind, we're getting only 1/4 of what the older members get.
Before and during the entry negotiations, old EU countries acted very egoistically, and now they're getting only a slight taste of the same.

Also, rich countries may give money, but profit as well, having big markets open for their products. Opening our young and unprepared markets for EU products resulted in many old companies being closed and giant unemployment. Of course, now we can make up for this by exporting labour, but it has some disadvantages for us (drainage of intellectual power, and lack of money for social insurances), and anyway it's not Germany or France we should be thankful for that, perhaps Britain, Ireland and Sweden. I'm not saying Poland does not profit from EU. It does. But EU membership costs us as well. And it isn't just about money. I'd like to remind You that most parties in Poland support membership of all european countries, and even Turkey, in EU, though it is not financially good for us.

Whatever happened to the much-dreaded Polish plumber, anyway? It's not like craftsmen's services have gotten any cheaper here ...
