        If we use the definition that you propose than we are all criminals and none of us should be counted for representation. Since that is completely absurd your definition must be wrong.

        Why would you classify someone as a criminal for simply commiting a crime if everyone has commited a crime at some point. There is no reason for such classification.

          I never said they should not be counted. In fact, I pointed out that the census is obligated to count them. Further, it is not "my" definition, but "the" definition as stated in a universally accepted book called a "dictionary". Perhaps you should explore this new and innovative source.

          While true, it is a meaningless argument. The parties in question are in the act of commiting a crime. I, on the other hand, am a former criminal as I have not speed since I drove home yesterday.

                You are violating YOUR OWN definition. According to your definition a criminal is someone who commits a crime. The dictionary says nothing about time frame.

                    Now, what we should do about the illegal aliens that are breaking our laws by being here is a different debate, but to say that they are not criminals is to wontonly disregard the meaning of the word for simple political posturing.

                          Once again...it is not "my" definition, but "the" definition. No matter how many times you try to spin it, that doesn't change.
                          You still aren't getting it. Meaning comes from context. "The" definition is determined by the context, not the dictionary. Those who write the dictionary try to determine the meaning from how it is used in context. Sometimes the don't do a perfect job. "The" definition is not necessarily the definition in the dicitonary.

                          There is no reason to call them criminals whatsoever. "Criminal" carries the connotation of bad. A "bad" criminal is "very bad." When someone violates a minor civil statute we don't normally refer to them as criminals. I can't believe you don't know this.

                            I really can't say that you have added anything new in that last post. It seems that we have gotten caught in a loop. However, I stand by all my previous statements and refer them to you yet again as I I am quickly tiring of reposting and rereading the same arguments. However, for the record, I will once again note that your argument is based on your interpretation while mine is based on a clearly accepted source.
