@Alexander I: My kids are currently in a small farming village in Brazil - they can handle "culture shock".

@Sloww: Compuware has been all over this move. They set me up with a realtor (that I'm going to use) and a mortgage agent (that I'm not). I got him looking at new homes in Grand Prairie but if there's better places, please let me know.

I'll call him back and add Arlington. Thanks.

You guys have been an enormous help, thank you sooo much. I feel like I've got friends there already.

Anything that comes up, feel free to ask. As far as we're concerned, you do have friends here already.

Grand prairie is nice. Congrats. You will like texas. The cost of living like i said is Lower then any other place i have been. The dallas forth worth area is huge, I dont like garland cause its mostly dry in that area, i mean this by you have to search out places and drive out of the way to buy alcohol

I understand that. I was basically using it as a euphemism for all the problems fitting in that they could have in certain areas. Some communities are elitist, there are lots of cliques, and some schools have students that are overly fond of hazing. It's weird.

Ditto. Although I haven't lived there for a while, I lived there for around half my life.

Well, it took me long enough but I finally got here. I'm currently livng out of a hotel so the Internet is free but it's not the best.

I have not washed away in any of the floods, so that's a good thing, but it has been raining almost every day here.

I've been investigating the Arlington Mall and surrounding stores - this place is really nice. I think I'm gonna see Rattatouille on the 4th, just for something to do.

I can't wait to get into the house. So far everything is set for the 9th but the technically have until the 18th to close. Although it's still four weeks until my wife and kids get back... that sucks.

Trust me when I say my wife and I totally underestimated how long three months is.

Well, at least I have work to pass the week. It goes fast when there's something to occupy my mind.

              Good deal.
This flooding is not the norm, by any means.
Lakes look good. West Texas is still dry.

Sorry it took so long but once things started to happen they just took off!

I didn't get into the house until Aug. 1st because I couldn't buy the house without my wife. So we were stuck in the apartment for three days while the house cleared and the former residents vacated.

For those that know, I'm in Arlington, down Cooper south of I-20. It's a nice place and the schools are supposed to be great (Mansfield).

The house has a pool, which was expensive to start but now is under control. We're starting to get back to normal life.

Thanks again for all the help.

You had said Grand Prairie before.
Arlington is a good area. Mansfield, good. I have cousins in or around there.
                  Glad it's going well.

                          Where in Texas?
