Why this case? If it were repeat offenders, or hardened criminals that pose a (very limited) threat even when incarcerated, that'd make some sense, but this type of incoherent murder is about as far from justifying capital punishment as you can get. These are the kind of people that we need to study more to figure out what goes haywire in a person's brain. Killing them just closes doors to preventing such terrible events in the future.Originally posted by Provost Harrison

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.Comment

The only real opposition to it I've ever had is relating to mistrials where innocent people are executed. If someone is completely unreformable...well...it's damn expensive to keep them locked up...Originally posted by Aeson

How exactly would you go about finding that out? Nobody will ever learn a ****ing thing from these two wastes of organic matter. We don't have the technology to study them objectively (PET scans etc.) in any way meaningful to answering that question, and we can't go back in time and wire them up to see what misfired in their twisted little synapses when they planned and carried out the killing.Originally posted by Aeson

Any kind of subjective exams would be a mockery - these little twits could just entertain themselves endlessly by giving nonsensical, made up for laughs answers, or acting out, in response to interviews in a therapeutic setting.
