I think that this engine is to normal electric engines like the Rotar engine is to standard piston engines.

          Why do you think that?

And what is a Rotar engine? Rotary as in wa n kel, or rotary as in plane engine?

It's not worth your time talking to Spec. He's got his mind made up. Doesn't matter what is happening now or in the future.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Exactly.

I prefer red, you prefer blue.

I have my reasons, you have yours, which are really not the same.

Unlike you, I never said you were wrong for liking the electric motor, I just told you I dont like it. But somehow, and I dont understand why, you try to impose on me your taste.

For you a car is made to go from A to B, for me, its how fun can it be from A to B.

              How can you compare?

Any hydrogen powered car is going to have to have compressed hydrogen stored some where on the car even if you store water and use electrolysis at the last minute. That means if anyone in a hydrogen car gets into a wreck... BOOM,

The Roadster was developed in collaboration with Lotus Cars and AC Propulsion.
Hey DanS, not a big company?

Do you know what lotus is? And who owns Lotus?

That was the case 15 years ago.

But today, its wrong. I saw the ''gas'' tanks they could use on Daily planet. Its as hard/soft (for it to deform but not leak) as a jet cockpit and can resist impacts up to 180km/h head on. Thats the tank itself, without a body around to absorb the impact and protect it.

You really crack me up, Spec. You rubbish a car about which you know nothing. Then you get called out on it. All of the sudden, you're the victim?

You persist in trying to make it sound like you know more than you do. Just stop while you're ahead. You've never driven a Tesla. You don't know how fun it would be. Just stop. And educate yourself.

                          ARe you serious?!

For the third time....if not the 4th, I have nothing against the car itslef, it might be fun to drive and have awesome handling. No matter what car it is, a General Motors EV1, Honda EV Plus, Toyota RAV4 EV, Ford Ranger EV, Nissan Altra EV, The TH!NK City, REVA, the brand new ZAP Xebra or the Telsa.

The point is the ENGINE!! The sound it makes, it doesnt kick at high rpms like a compressed aspirated engine can be. Thats a fact. Do your reasearch.

                          I DONT LIKE ELECTRIC ENGINES!!

Is that clear enough or do I have to send you a fax?

                          Spec.

The body is all Lotus. The engine is not.

Also, another reason why I hate electric engines is that the batteries wear out pretty fast, depending on a number of factors of course, and are usually not included in the guarantee iirc.

Also, there is usually no transmission, so not power shifts, no kick down or anything. All done with the gas pedal. I know you americans like automatic cars, but I will never buy one.

                                It's a question of taste.
