  • I haven't played any serious Civ since the C3C disaster. I started about a dozen Civ4 games, and finished 3 (2 vanilla, 1 Warlords). My interest has shifted to other game genres. I tried to post in Other Games about it, but each discussion was trolled and spammed to death by the usual suspects. I go to better sites to discuss games now, but I still visit Apolyton to see what's new and make a comment now and then. And no, I don't have a problem with that.

A prime example of the differences between CFC and Apolyton would be the wikis. CFC's OT wiki is actually useful place providing centralized info on many of the known posters and concepts at CFC. A bit humorous or tongue-in-cheek sometimes, but mostly useful - and maintained. The Poly OT wiki was forgotten within a week of creation and never amounted to anything more than a silly collection of inside references and "jokes".

I have always considered, and still do, most people on Apolyton to be well more intelligent than average. But many also have an amazing capacity to behave well below their level of intelligence.

I guess it really shows when new posters at CFC are given a "Welcome to CFC" message, but new posters here get silly DL dances and rude answers...

Translation: CFC members generally get bored with/banned from CFC, so they have time to edit their Wiki. Apolyton members cannot draw themselves away from here, and so our wiki languishes

hey, I've made a couple of nice civ2 scns, and no-one contributed so many frogs as I did

I don't think I mentioned you by name. Though as far as I'm concerned, you could stuff them frogs up imageshack. Or just get a frog avatar (like the one you had) and be done with it. Better than some animated pothead.

                              • Doesn't really matter anyway because unless they get their act together and make civ 5 a real civ game, both sites will eventually die out. The best way I can describe civ4 is running a race knee deep in mud. A fact which has made civ4players ladder (a terrible ladder which only makes an already bad game worse) nothing but MP games. The duel is dead in civ4 already. Compare that with civ2 which thrived off of it and its MP lasted far longer. Civ4 is basically Deity from civ2 on steroids with a really really bad combat system.
