looking at their off topic, it seems to be exactly the same as our off topic, only with a babe thread. The babe thread was nice I suppose. But you know me. I don't like women in seductive poses.

There's a thread commenting on men and women drivers.

I just don't feel comfortable posting, as I don't know anyone.

Politically, there's a far larger amount of nutjobs in CFC than Apolyton. In Apolyton, we had Ned, Fez, and Mobius. In CFC, the amount of nutjobs are countless. As well, debates tend to be incredibly stupid.

Rules are much more stricter there, so often part of the art of posting there is to get away with as much as possible without getting an infraction.

this place just feels like home. I can't help it. Don't know what I'll do when the forum dwindles in numbers. I can't see myself posting much over there. I made one post. Pretty insignificant.

dammit, someone over there is using a pentagram avatar similar to what I used to use. I can't have that. I wonder if I can sue.

Quite simply, CFC is for downloading mods and files and Apolyton is home.

You go to Apolyton in order to converse with mostly reasonable people and Firaxis devs.

You go to CFC for your Hitler leaderhead or Amazon unit graphic or whatever tripe you want. I know I do.

uh-oh I just discovered their history forum. You guys might lose me forever. Just kidding. didn't mean to get your hopes up. it's kind of annoying that they have to many subdivisions. Jokes are not in with off topic? I can see sports and history being seperate (as ours is), but jokes and computer stuff?

just wish our history forum was as active. Even if some of the threads are silly. silly is fun sometimes.

Apolyton lost its state as reputable place for gaming discussions years ago. It still provides a good overview, but mostly it is a place for spamming and trolling now. If you want the good stuff, or insightful reviews and discussions, you visit CFC, the Bioware forums, the Paradox forums, TenTonHammer and many many others depending on genre.

Truth hurts sometimes. Just have a look at the Civ4 coverage.

CFC has a great modding community, GOTMs of various flavors which are alive and kicking, a HOF that awards not spamming, but Civ merits and an active strategical community. Their strategy forum spans over about 50 active threads in 4 days. And it has a good library of strategical articles.

Apolyton has ... uh ... a pretty much dead Apolyton University, a strategy forum with 30 active threads in a whole month and a lot of discussions of what civs should be in the expansion, and what one shall do if he gets tired with the game.

The only shiny beacon of Apolyton is Blake, and even his work is posted on many forums, so you can't call him a 100% Apolytoner.

                      With other games it's similar.

In these troubled days people turn to fanaticism more easily.

                            *shrug*

CFC and Poly both suck for MP though. And poly is still better in DGs. Also, most of those threads on CFC are from utter noobs asking why the game is so hard on warlord difficuty, which isn;t exactly a strat thread...
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

In Civ3 times the Strategy Forum was renowned for taking "utter noobs" by their hands and making "pros" of them, or at least players who have mastered the basics. I'm not saying the Apolyton Civ4 Strategy is a bad place, but somehow it's sad that the noobs seem to prefer other places now.

What concerns MP, well, I can't say I blame both forums for not covering it accordingly. Both provide a platform for discussions, but a true Civ MP forum demands more infrastructure like tournament organization and ladder mechanics, and it needs a very active staff of moderators dedicated to MP, which is what both Apolyton and CFC simply do not have.
