Huey Lewis in his prime was awesome. That man could rock.

Coming clean like this is good for the soul. Sadly, I keep thinking of more.

    More guilt:
Billy Joel -- Piano Man (just so gay...)
MC Hammer -- U Can't Touch This (most embarrassing video evah)
C+C Music Factory -- Everybody Dance Now (can't remember the real title, but I loved this)

But the biggest guilt trip of all:

Ice Ice Baby -- Vanilla Ice

This was the worst -- ripped off his music (unauthorized sampling of Bowie's Under Pressure for this song), his dance moves; lied about his background in a sad attenpt to gain street cred. I despise the guy (real name Rob Van Winkle IIRC) as a charlatan and ripoff artist. Still, for some reason, I like this tune. Probably because I love that stolen hook.

    I'm so ashamed...

        Rush's crappy synth-pop period. I can't help it, they're too awesome.

          Nah, not that stuff.

I'm talking bout his country songs. He has a record with lots of oldies.

He's big enough to constitute an entire band by himself...and you certainly should be ashamed for liking his music....but I thought you were deaf. Was I misinformed??
Well mostly deaf. I do like music and I have had a kind friend try to update my ear by playing 70-80's rock. Good stuff.

I can actually play a piano, but I can only hear about 2/3rds of the keyboard.

I was thinking that was a Queen song, but I think I heard Bowie wrote it. Good bass riff.

I was going to claim I'm not ashamed of anything I genuinely like. But then you had to bring up Billy Joel. That comes close to a little twitch of shame.

OK, I can do one better than all of you.

I like "Rubber Ducky" sung by the Sesame Street muppet Ernie. I hum it quietly when nobody is around.

There's nothing to be ashamed about liking Billy Joel.

                          Piano rock.

I'm actually not a big fan of Mr. Joel. Don't hate him or anything. He is an outstanding songwriter, but not generally my cup of tea.

When Piano Man came out in the mid-70s, I was working at a rock radio station. It was new, it was different, and no one had ever heard of the guy (although it was actually his second album). And I always loved "discovering" cool new music.

Fun fact 1: His first solo album, Cold Spring Harbor, was originally mastered slightly off-speed. As a result, everything is slightly off pitch (a half-note sharp IIRC). Subsequent reprints of this album were remastered to correct the error.

Fun fact 2: Joel was the studio pianist on the hit single "Remember (Walking in the Sand)" by the Shangri-Las.

I saw Billy Joel and got some pics by leaning on the stage. He had a broken wire and was doing some quick maintenance during a concert, and waved security away.
I thought that was cool of him.
