This is precisely what it looks like to me.

I can support calls for equality, and I can oppose discrimination, but it would be vain of me to think that I can speak for someone or something that I am not. I've certainly known some feminists and gays who get quite annoyed with leftists who claim to represent them when they don't.

Likewise many women get annoyed with feminists who claim to speak for them but don't.
I didn't mean speak as someone. I don't pretend that I am gay when I support homosexuals. I don't pretend to be black when I support equal rights for them. I meant speak in support of.

you also appear to support those that harm THEMSELVES without any foresight or reasoning. Even people that wouldnt support YOU in the same situation.

            • Suffice it to say that I disagree with your analysis of child psychology. In my experience, which clearly differs from yours (and I concede that, unlike me, you are actually a parent), spoiling had nothing to do with a child's future political views.

I used to agree with my parents politics... until, say, the age of about 20, when I began to diverge from them. My father and I have had some pretty vehement political debates. My mother nearly fainted when I told her I was gonna vote for Kerry

Anyway - being spoiled = you think you're owed something. A sense of entitlement, if you will. Everyone, AFAIK, believes they are entitled to something, of course. I reject the idea that people are entitled to a free place to "hang out" and whatever. Free emergency healthcare? Yes. Free hippie hangout? No. Just my opinion, of course.

You are dead wrong. If being spoiled made you an anarcist or communist the US would be communist at least for 20 years now. I'm sorry Arrian but you are going to have to accept the fact that it is the political and economic system and people like these Fundies that make people believe the way they do.

                  • I have to accept what you believe? No thanks.

I didn't say being spoiled made you an anarchist or communist. I said this group of anarchists or whatever sounded spoiled.

You then asserted being spoiled made you agree with daddy's political views. I contested that. I don't see causation there.

What is my prejudice, pray tell?

I judged based on the facts available, which are pretty damning. Prejudice means I was against them before reading anything, which is not so. If this had been a story of a youth group being thrown out of their building so it could be given over to a nutty fundy group and the youth group had not been violent about it and babbled endlessly about what they *demanded* from the government, I probably would've backed THEM.

edit: and I think it's pretty fair to say that your prejudice (and mine, frankly) against the fundy group is obvious. That doesn't necessarily make us wrong about them (from what I've seen posted, the info available backs up our prejudice that they were ****ing nuts).

Has the working class been mentioned at all in this debate so far? I might have missed it - I haven't read every page. If not, then I would claim that whatever this debate is about, it's not about socialism, and is not a 'cap-com' debate.
Not much-- Kid's comments are generally with a communist leaning but generally they have remained at the level of justification of flouting the "law"-- Since he couches that in communist jargon, there are elements of cap-com here

Yeah, I'd have to agree there.

Though my mom thinks it funny , so I suppose it does have some merit, albeit quite modest..

JUst curious but WHERE do you speak? Are you talking about here or are you an advocate that speaks at human rights hearings or to the media etc etc. Or do you mean "speaking" in the sense that you join rallies and meetings and protests?
