Sure, I'm fairly certain that I didn't mention left/right once. If I did, it was probably a sloppy response to someone elses use of it.

Being sympathetic towards anarchists doesn't have anything to do with left/right. If anything, it's an indication of a rejection of the left/right rhetoric.

interesting then, why all the LEFTISTS took the side of the anarchists... if anarchy is indeed rejection of the left/right rhetoric. i wonder why? would anarchists in turn defend leftists if the situation was turned or would they be more apathetic?

                  • I think Ludd's point is that an anarchist, who rejects government in general, wants nothing to do with left/right because left/right is generally about the political spectrum... groups trying to gain control of the government.

Many leftists like to self-righteously claim to speak for everyone, but frequently end up speaking for no-one but themselves. Actually there is one group and one group only that the left should, traditionally be speaking for.

Once upon a time the left was about socialism, and socialism believed that he way forward was to unleash humanity's potential by moving forward from capitalism toward a supposedly more advanced form of production, and a more liberating arrangement of social forces.

The agent of change was to be the working class, not because they were 'oppressed' (though they might have been) but because they held the economic power to change the world, and that to an extent they were partly organised by capitalism.

If this dispute in Denmark has anything to do with genuine socialism at all - as opposed to just a bunch of kids getting off on striking radical postures - then I would expect the working class to have something to do with it - as they did in instances of genuine change like Russia 1917 or potential change like Hungary 1956.

Has the working class been mentioned at all in this debate so far? I might have missed it - I haven't read every page. If not, then I would claim that whatever this debate is about, it's not about socialism, and is not a 'cap-com' debate.

If you keep in mind the premise that I put forth - that left and right are meaningless terms, then your question is pointless.
