Yeah, and it's a bit interesting to see how high it will go
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Plus I am looking at the other threads here today and there really is a dearth of good threads today. I think that contributed a lot to the high participation in this one
You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo
Just because some politicians have made speeches in a building, it isn't nessecaryly reason to keep it forever. It's just a plain old building that actually hasn't been treated nice for the last 20 years.
If we should start keeping buildings where royalties, politicians of any breed has visited, then we would soon be stuck with nothing but old museums.
Yeah its just like every other building in Copenhagen- Where the Int. Womens Day was declared.
I though we are already pretty good in protecting all the old royal palaces, castles and other historical buildings here in Europe. Should we demolish this just because it was used by the socialists, communists and feminists? Those who disagree with YOU politically.
If it was up to me I would have preserved the new Reichstag btw. People should not be denied their history over petty greed or political jeloysy.

If its that historic, then it should have been declared a historic site. I assume Denmark would have such designations
I asked the question earlier of how people would feel if the squatteers were turfed to create a museum orhistoric building or whatnot ( any use incompatible with the squatter occupation)

I really don't care much about buildings except when they have some architectural or beauty properties that makes them worth to keep.
Concerning important politcal happenings, I prefer to remember them for their importance not due to some worship place.

One of the things that delayed the case was an request if it was a building worth of preservation - it got a no.

Ahh-- but I am sure that the leftys in ehre will say that that was another example of righty oppression as they did not appreciate the lefty historical significance

I guess it was not declared a historic building because it was still in use and it would probably have meant hat the youth would have had to leave it. Declaring something historic tends to leave buildings in a frozen state. I think it was pretty nice to see that historic building in contemporary use close to its original usage. It should be evident for anyone why the fundies and right wing govt wanted to see such a monement of the left and atheists to be demolished. Today we can say that the reactionists have won.

Probably . Their problem would though be that the commite desciding of such is made up of a bunch of independent lefty historians, architects etc.

And why could that not be the case? It wouldnt be the first example of such political decisions.

You seem to know this comittee. That sounds interesting. Could you shed light to their decision? What were the reasons why it was not historical enough for preservation?

won what?? They created a rallying point for the left which IMHO was squandered by the youths use of violence. They could have used the publicity and gotten another building (the Danes indicate this was on the table)
Even as it stands what have reactionaries really won-- a building may be demolished but the ideas and principles are in no way extinguished

I don't know enough to say either way but some of your "comrades" arguing your side of this would assume opression without need for anything that might inconvenience them like . .. say . . . FACTS.
Every time a decsion goes against a lefty, its some form of oppression. I guess they expect in a "fair" system, they win every time??
