  • No one has to pay rent. Building your own home is actually a great option.

Sure it costs money, that's why you need to work.

IF you want to sit on your ass every day, well you have the freedom to do that as well.

    • Living proof that these so-called socialists are just a bunch of selfish ****ers...

It's these self-serving hippy anarchist arseholes that screw up most reasonable marches and demonstrations against governments and allow those governments to dismiss these legitimate protests because of a nasty minority.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Exactly. Although I disagree even with most of the legitimate protests, I believe that the differences should be settled within the framework of a civil society.

There's a lot of truth to that. I will listen to what any group has to say. BUt when they turn to violence, to me its because they have no merit to their position.

Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.

Why go to extremes like that? Why are you more concerned about a building than the youth? Is it not appropriate that the youth have their own place? The city knew they could never afford to pay the rent when they made the deal with them in 1980ties.

You know what this is? Its GREED. The city council got greedy and the christian sect probably gave them a sweet offer with all the money they have managed to con from their vic...members. So the council sold the youth off to the highes bidder. I'm sure some right wing politicians were secretly very happy to cause trouble to the "hippies" and "freeloaders".

Active youth claiming an abandoned building for their activities has been the common practise around the world since like 1960ties. Only now in this millenia have the attitudes changed in many countries and values got harder. Now everything has to be profitable, there is no free lunch blah blah. Basicly nothing is free.

There is no freedom anymore if you cant afford to pay for it.

Is that the world you want to accept and live in? I dont. I believe some things should be free an provided by the society. Things like the Ungdomshuset here. But what do you care? I guess in England the youth hangs out in the streets boozing and getting pregnant.
Yeah you seem to like things that way. We dont. So please stick your attitude deep in to your arse and let the youth have a controlled, non-violent, anti-gang meeting place.

Ya -- they really learned non-violence there !!!

Oh and I believe in youth centres. Anyone that wants one and has the means can build one . . . plus I believe it is a government function to provide recreation facilities availible to the public.

I just don't believe in violence or wanton destruction . .. . pretty simple really

                    • Well, I never said they were any Ghandis. If you see one good thing in you world crumbling and getting destroyed you get angry. Sure you fight for your rights, especially if you are provoked by the police in the first place. What kind of pussies would they be if they would not be ready to stand up for their rights?

The question is why did the authorities want to go as far as they did? Why did they let this happen? Why werent the youth protected by the adult citizens? Why did the Danes let kids face the police in riot gear?

Its a shameful day to the Danish society. The young people were completely let down. The future will condemn this.

Ya middle class Danes have it so very very very tough.

So what exactly is the right they are fighting for? Spell it out. Is it a right to meet? No one denied them that? Ditto for the right to have a meeting place. Was it the right to have a building for free in perpetuity?

What was their choice? Should they have allowed an illegal occupation of a building continue indefinitely? What message does that send?

                            • Okay..there are misconceptions popping up in this thread.

This wasn't a case of come "kids" facing police brutality. This was well coordinated attacks on the very safety of Copenhageners, and the police only did what they had to do, to keep Copenhagen safe.

Any initiations of violence were on the side of the leftists. Any brutality was on the side of the youths. The police conducted a very low key operation, pulling back each and every time a local situation had been resolved.

To pull out this week-end as an example of police brutality is flat out wrong.

Perhaps but I cannot get why this was such a case.
