An Abu Ghraib or a My Lai doesn't speak to overall policy. It does not necessarily follow from Abu Ghraib that Iraq was wrong. (Granted, they're both true.)

when Bush shattered the myth of the US being the good guys.

Ned didn't acknowledge the evils of Abu Ghraib because he doesn't have Ted's balls

People keep saying this, but I call bull****. I've never had much difficulty identifying where in a discussion DD lies.

I blame others' reading comprehension, not DD's snipes.

There's a difference between patriotism and mindless USAUSAUSA-ism. I believe this nuance even exists in the US

There's also a difference between a strong defense policy and the arrogant hawkishness your country displayed before the Iraq war.

Those two extremes strike me as being on the right of the spectrum.

                      I don't see either as a conservative-only trait.

Oooo, oooo! I'll take that bait! kuci is a wimp.

                        1. The abuse at Abu Ghraib was criminal and stupid. Has nothing to do with lib/con, except of course that the libs blew it out of proportion as a political strategy.
                        2. Failure of the neoconservative magic wand to transform the Iraqi pumpkin into the golden carriage of freedom and democracy does not speak against the US being the good guys.
                        3. Bush didn't cause Abu Ghraib

What's the difference between the "arrogant hawkishness" displayed before the Kosovo intervention and the Iraq War?

Ignoring the UN? Possibly illegal use of force? A "Coalition of the Willing?" Is Europe conservative?
