not giving blood because of some policy against gays? That is just stupid. You could save someone's life. Surely their life is more important than a bull**** political message.

I have given blood before. Not recently. I don't even know where to go. I guess you can say I'm not motivated. But if there was a shortage, I would in a heartbeat. I have a fairly common blood type. Never knew what it was until they put it on my dog tags. A positive. I think they ask if you've been with prostitutes. I have. But that was protected sex, but that isn't part of the question. Oh well.

      I don't think it's sucked. It's pumped by your heart I believe.

Decent folks there but it took a long time about an hour to draw the blood. Not fortunate enough to have the big veins that other folks have here.

Felt woozy for a few days after but no bad effects.
        an hour!!!

You people are freaks. . I don't recall it taking more than 5 minutes. I have no idea if I have big veins (I'm a fairly small stature). And my pulse is usually lose (around 58). It just doesn't seem to take long.

I think to make giving blood a better experience they should show porn movies during the process.

Yeah if you've seen me you would know why it would take an hour to get that amount of blood.

There just isn't all that much blood in me. I'm only 5'5'' and 130 pounds.

I give out every 2 months it is allowed here by the red cross. Less than 20 days to my 24th donation, been donating since 2001.

Its a real good habit, everyone should try it. Doesnt make you weak at all, feels goood afterwards. Like a bull thats let out some bad blood.

The actual giving blood part takes me ~15 minutes. The pain is minimal.

                  Afterwards, I get free sandwiches.

                  Win-win.

If it took a looong time it probably meant the needle wasn't in right. In college I weighed 125lb and my resting stats were 105/65 @ 66. I had no trouble giving blood. I last measured around 110/70 @ 73, and now weigh nearly 140.

When they came on a monthly schedule to the student center I was giving 5 times a year. After the renovations started their schedule was less regular and frequently would come with less than 56 days, so I'd have to wait another month.

Since then I've given very irregularly. For five years I've been working with chain saws I rarely gave at all.

                    Total: somewhere between 40-50.

That doesn't reduce the amount of pain I feel.

And sometimes they are so shaky

i like watching them stick it in rather than looking away. i couldnt two saturdays ago when i was getting jabbed with needles ten times tho . stupid neck brace. but among them i did get my tetnus booster which i was supposed to get last year but my doctor's office lost my medical file and weren't very good about finding it.

They've got a blood drive at work every six-eight weeks, so I donate a pint so long as I don't have a cold at the time. The only uncomfortable thing about the process is when the blood comes out so fast that the needle vibrates.
