I mentioned that, because of your comment about being tight, etc.

Anyway, I suppose there is no real difference between these garments, and the things (some) Jews wear on their heads (although I know nothing about those "caps" )

Teh j00s wear the hats (which are lined with tinfoil) to keep the Christian missionaries from getting to them. They are fundamental enemies of teh mormons, and historically these two groups have fought to the death. In fact, Hitler was a closet mormon.

Mormons were pioneers in using databases for electoral profiling and campaigning. Dick Wirthlin, IIRC, was heavily involved in Reagan's 1980 campaign.

They also have databases of everyone in history to use in their bizarre retrospective mass conversion-through-ritual-marriage shenanigans.

                Apparantly.

I was raised Mormon. Like Verto, didn't stay in long enough to go on my mission. My Dad and 3 of my brothers (as well as most of the males I knew growing up) went on their missions though, and generally it's a lot of hard work, living on very little means, not much in the way of success (from a conversion standpoint), but an experience which seems to be highly regarded. (And one that seems to be good for the overall society here in Utah, like a foreign exchange program for school.)

Garments are something that's completely optional. (Outside the temple at least.) The restrictions are more about where they shouldn't be worn than where they should. I'm not really sure on this subject, but know they aren't supposed to be worn swimming, or anywhere where they would be visable.

The LDS church does have a very extensive geneological library. I wouldn't doubt that it's the most extensive in the world even. But it's not very technically advanced, a lot of it is still on microfilm, or simply images transfered from the microfilm. My Mom is involved in the process of transfering those visual records to databases, which is still a massive project at this point.

No one is converted with the marriages, or even the baptisms for the dead though. They'd have to choose to be. (Which means, there's no meaning to it unless you want there to be.) I'm not as sure about the "marriage", but I don't think anyone is married to anyone they weren't actually married to in life, and in any case they'd also have to accept it for it to apply.

                            Yes. Amongst others.

It's not really that far-fetched if you accept that Jesus is who the Bible claims he is. (Much more far-fetched would be who the Book of Mormon claims the Native Americans are.)

The Bible passage most often used to support this belief by Mormons is:

                            John 10:16 (KJV)
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
