I wasn't biting, I was explaining why I rated it low. A proper bite has the attitude of "What? This is outrageous! Why I..." This wasn't even coherent enough to be plausible. However fundy he was raised for a few years as a child, it doesn't make it a fundy now. Lots of people go completely the other way after they're raised strictly one religion. I don't doubt it'll cause trouble, but the guy's a Christian, even if not the world's mosy devout one. But then, how many dems are really devout Christians? Most strike me as more liberal Christians. Either way, he's clearly not a Muslim now. I'd find it hilarious the amount people go on about his middle name or his childhood - isn't it a great success story that a guy raised partly as a fundamentalist Muslim is now a practicing Christian who's risen to the ranks of Senator? It's pretty impressive to me.

There are plenty of people who wouldn't feel comfortable voting for a candidate who spent four years of their childhood being brainwashed into the most reactionary and fundamentalist Islamic sect around, just as there would be plenty of people who wouldn't vote for a candidate who was raised in one of those crazy snake-handling evangelical Christian sects.
