Tom Hortons isn't like Starbucks at all. As alluded to, it's closer to Dunkin' Donuts but way more successful.

There's even a Tim Hortons in Kandahar for the Canadian soldiers there.

All the big powers bring their fastfood/comfort places along with them. It's usually a concession licenced out by the country's military Post Exchange (retail service).

              Generally speaking

              Tim Hortons > Starbucks

but Second Cup > The Both of them

No, Second Cup is too pricey.

Wait, you stay in a coffee shop? What are you, gay?

Tim Hortons sees Dunkin as its primary competitor. Their expansion into the US sort of fell flat on its face, so the stock I bought before the Wendy's spin-off tanked for a few months, but I'm back in the black now

If you don't move it in and out, it's not very fun.

But if you don't stay a while, you don't get to savour the moment.

                            Damn, I am gay

I use to spend hours a week in a coffee shop (more time than I spent in my office).

I even had a few girls I saw regularly and would hit on (sorta, I suck at that sort of thing)( I always screwed it up of course).

Of course, I agree, I don't feel like a place like Starbucks is a hangout site. The one I hung out in had free internet + books + pool (during some periods of time) + live bands (at times) + poetry (at times) + alcohol (at some periods of time) + etc.

It was pretty cool for a while.

Why am I hearing a Denis Leary rant when I read this?
