Mel Gibson got in trouble primarily because of his own anti-semitic rants, and his refusal (given a golden opportunity) to distance himself from his father's anti-semitism. That is significantly different than Obama's heritage.
The Governator won regardless of his nazi "heritage" which I don't recall hearing much about here in CT - I heard about him being a bit of a mysognist. Was it really a big issue, or are you exaggerating?
