Kinda like the first Muslim cabinet member is a neocon.
Which would be a valid reason for opposing him (his political views, as opposed to his heritage). Unfortunately, that all gets obscured by knee-jerk reactions to people's names.
It's actually a good strategy - promoting a muslim who is a neocon (nobody expects the muslim neocon!), because if you happen to criticize the appointment, you have to be prepared to defend yourself against a charge of racism.
49% of Americans wouldn't vote for a Moron. The other 51 % did.
Fixed
So get your Naomi Klein books and move it or I'll seriously bash your faces in! - Supercitizen to stupid students Be kind to the nerdiest guy in school. He will be your boss when you've grown up!
And a couple days before a Muslim neocon was nominated to a cabinet post, the first Muslim was sworn into Congress, and he bills himself as the second coming of Wellstone. The only conclusion I can get out that is Muslims love to imitate Jews...

Sombodys got a problem with the name Zalmay?
Actually I think there will be searching questions by the Senate comm, focusing on Iraq, the negotiation of the Iraqi constitution, the way forward, etc. I am hoping ZK will manage to educate some people about the realities in Iraq, and what US policy has been and is.

actually, I think if his religion was relevant at all, its to help give the lie to folks at the UN and elsewhere who spread the meme that US policy is antimuslim.

That too.
Zkrib - as if that's exclusively a Republican tactic They're better at it, or have been of late, but come on.
Actually, Drake's troll at least raised the question of someone who experimented with cocaine decades ago is qualified to become President. It is IMHO a stupid question, but it's at least a question.
Ned's troll simply seeks to rouse anti-Arab discrimination. As such, he deserves the fish:
It kind of reminds of the 1960 Presidential Campaign. The Republicans kept doing hit jobs on Kennedy for being a Catholic claiming that a Catholic President would have to do what the Pope tells him to do thus only a Protestant could be trusted to be President. Later on the same sorts of folks whined endlessly about "the lose of American values" when a Jew got appointed to the President's Cabinet and again when a Jew got elected to Congress. Now they're going ape **** over a muslim being elected to Congress.
Just the same ignorant bastards doing the same old song and dance.
Arrian, are you SURE it was only Republicans raising this question. You have to remember that in those days the so-called Bible Belt was a bastion of the Democrat Party. Also, there was the Democrat primary where the same issue was raised, IIRC.

I don't really see that as being at issue. It is of course true. Hell I could even name posters and threads to illustrate that for you if you want. Would you care to illustrate how that justifies your unjustified prejudice?

Obama didn't just "experiment" with coke. From his comments in his book, it sounds like he used it whenever he could afford it.
At any rate, Ned's troll is so much better than mine. Just one neutral question in the OP was all it took to get you guys foaming at the mouth. So simple, so beautiful...
