I am an agnostic myself, which to me means that I do not know, for a fact, whether there is or there is not a God. This does not mean, that I am an atheist in that I deny that there is a God, because there is no way to know this for a fact and is truly as much a matter of belief, of faith, as you have it, as having a belief or faith in God.
Therefore, I would be comfortable with an agnostic as president. I would be very uncomfortable with and atheist, whom I perceive to usually be hostile to religion.

Tangent, but I've always wondered: it's not coincidence that Kwanzaa bears such a suspicious resemblance to Hannukah, is it? I don't want to be the bigot who says 'Black people are so damned lazy they can't even make up an original fake holiday, they have to rip off the Jews and slap on some names whitey can't pronounce to hide it,' but really, it looks that way...
I took part in a Hannukah celebration last year (a couple weeks ago). It was sort of cool, but seemed to have relatively low meaning compared to Passover, for example.
It might have been because the family I was with weren't observant Jews...

1 - Both parents were Athiest at the time they married
2 - They seperated when Obama was two and his Athiest Mother raised him
3 - His Critianity seems to me to be more a rebelion against the non-faith of his parents.
I would be very uncomfortable with a theist, whom I perceive to usually be hostile toward athiests.
My perspective
Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators, the creator seeks - those who write new values on new tablets. Companions the creator seeks, and fellow harvesters; for everything about him is ripe for the harvest. - Thus spoke Zarathustra, Fredrick Nietzsche

*sigh* I hate still having to say this. Hannukah is not a very important holiday. It celebrates one more instance of the Jews failing to die and a minor miracle.
That is actually what I understood from this. But I was wanting to be sure, as I said, they weren't at all religious so I might have missed something.

Come on Ned dont play coy with me, you know very well I was exposing the hypocracy of they earlier statment. All potential presidents (and polititians) are undesirable to me to the degree to which they subjuagate their thinking to religious dogma, as the hard core belivers of all the abrahamic religions besicaly belive the same crap it dosn't matter to me which particular flavor their selling.
Let me make it painfully clear for you, I would prefer a mulsim who governed in a secular manor over our current bible thumping administration. And I would prefer an Athiest most of all.
As for the link, try reading the mans books and learning perhaps a shread of back ground information on the topic. I learned about his background in the resent orgy of Obama reports in the likes of Time and newsweek which had excerpts from his book in which he explains this himself.

Yeah. I kinda pounced on you. Sorry. I've had to explain that one a lot. Now of course, LoTM will probably come back to the thread and show off his superior jewskillz, making me look stupid, but that's a price I'm willing to pay.
But, wouldn't you consider atheists to be hardcore agnostics?
Not all theists (belivers in god) are hardcore, most do respect the beliefs of others, the hardcore ones do not. Being an athiest dose not automaticaly make one a "hardcore Athiest" which I would define as someones who dose not respect the theist (what you were talking about being afraid of back a few posts) aka Stalin. I'm against that kind of intolerance from either side of the spectrum, I want moderates over radicals but among moderates I would like them to be on my side.
