I'd missed the thread on Eventis (whence the issue came), and it reads to me like she's bragging.
I don't go to Eventis...
In this and other threads on Apolyton, it looked as if it was other people bringing up the issue. Maybe she responded a bit more... liberally... than she should have, but I didn't pick up any bragging. *shrug*
Anyways, b etor, don't get the idea that I'm on your side or anything. I think very few people are mature enough to have sex, and I think being fifteen lowers the odds that you've reached the necessary level of maturity.
Mature enough to have sex? This idea has always seemed silly to me. People overplay the importance and meaning of sex. Sex is just... sex. Sure in many times it is accompanied by love, but not always. Sex is a primitive action. Even animals do it. . Based more on instincts than actual brain activity.
By some of your opinions, most people in this world shouldn't be having sex. And that is just plain silly. I'm not in favour of restraining basic human desires (as I mentioned in the nun thread). Yeah, there's a lot of stupid people ****ing. So what? Who are we to get on some moral high horse and tell them they can't ****?
And yes, I support even teenagers ****ing. (that sounds bad, I know- I'm not talking about myself). People need to explore their sexuality. Sexual repression is not a good thing. They just need to be aware of the dangers like STD's (and pregnancy is also an STD )

While I'm all for free love, sex is different from other "primitive actions" in that it may have consequences that are important to understand, and the understanding of which demands a certain level of maturity.

eating can have consequences as well. I equate sex with eating. . Yeah some people over do it and get sick or get fat. This is just human nature. Not all of us are alike.

No no no. I'm not saying most people shouldn't have sex. I'm just saying that when most people have sex, they're probably doing something stupid. I'm on no moral high ground. I support teenagers having sex, too - if they're ready for it.
The thing is... sex is just sex... certainly, but not really. Most people believe there to be so much behind sex. And having sex, regardless of whether or not it's just some random biological imperative, has a significant psychological impact on a person.
Dis - my apologies for using you as an example for a moment - your psyche is greatly affected by your limited successes in the sexual department. It colors nearly every post of yours on Apolyton. Whether you're being self-deprecating or not, it's there. Now, I'm not saying that's a bad thing; I'm just trying to demonstrate the huge psychological impact that sex has on the human brain.
And most people are simply not prepared for this impact. Whether you have sex or not, it's going to affect you in some way, and most people simply don't know how to deal with that effect.
I have no problem exploring one's sexuality, and I think that repression of one's sexual nature is a very bad thing. But I don't think the best way to explore is to dive in head first unprepared. Treading water in the shallow side of the pool is okay; it's still exploration. They key to good and healthy exploration of your sexuality is to come to understand how particular acts and situations are going to affect you, so that you can get the most out of them and not regret them later.
That's silly, Dis. Becoming pregnant or getting HIV is a bigger deal than getting fat. Besides, we do demand a certain level of maturity for eating, too, and don't let babies put whatever they want in their mouths. That this maturity is reached earlier in life is not a qualitative difference.

Most people are pretty stupid with their eating, too. Most people either get too few or too many calories, and don't get enough of one food group or get too much of another. Look at how many obese people there are in America. Look at how many teenage girls fret because they're not skinny enough. Look at bulemia, anorexia. People need to be taught better eating habits. People are stupid with eating and food, too.
