He had to know they all knew too much and wouldn't be released.
But as far as I'm concerned that was just another wasted time plot that hopefully is over.
Well the Dad was vaporized in the nuke explosion so I doubt they will be arround much longer.

What's with all that nuking? Doesn't that devalue the horror of real nukes somehow, making a nuclear attack more probable?

Some holes you could drive a truck through in this story arc. They spend the better part of two hours manipulating the plot to get
            Spoiler:
the one-and-only leftover suitcase nuke + special expert guy + special electronics together for their big hoo-ha, then tell us -- after at least 3 times telling us there's only one one in existence -- that there are 6 of them to deal with.

If so, why do the terrorists need to spend so much effort to get the guy and the circuit board?

It's this kind of stuff -- which they had a full off-season to plan -- that drives the show further away from alternate reality-action show to goofy bring-on-the-Rimbaldi-Devices cartoon.

I'm willing to suspend disbelief to believe there's such a thing as a suitcase nuke, and that it was developed during the cold war. But don't insult me by...
            Spoiler:
            randomly changing "one" to "five"
...after 4 hours of plot development.

And after years of fighting Middle East terrorists, you would think they might have more than one person in the whole CTU who can speak Arabic.

            Oh well, at least they...

Maybe the other 5 aren't suitcase nukes. I am amazed that Feyd could get far enough away in LA traffic to not be hurt by the nuke in 10 minutes.

Again, it wasn't in LA. It was in a suburb ~60 miles to the north. I don't know much about LA to know what traffic is like out there, but IIRC Karen said that the blast radius would be ~0.5 mile.

Then I don't think it killed that many people. Probably total lost of life would be less than 40k. My freinds who were watching it thought such a thing would kill 100k+.

                    • I loved the fact that the mushroom cloud looked bigger on the radar screen than in the "live" shots.

                        • Picky picky picky.
That they actually were allowed to set it off was the surprise.

But, while it bothers me that there are more after they made such a big deal and effort for 1, We do need the extras to continue the plot.

The real question is, how many episodes before those 4 are eliminated and we move on to a new threat or are these 4 going to have to stretch out for the next 20 hours.

My favorite was the interview with KS and they asked him about the voice over at the opening when he says 'The following takes place between....."
He said it wasn't till the third season that it dawned on him that he probably didn't have to do them anymore since thay already had it from previous seasons. He said they just kept asking him to do it, but when he finally asked in season three, it was like a big DOH, and he hasn't had to do it since.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

                              Point one:

                              Spoiler:
Before the terrorist denoted the nuke, they said that the Russians claimed to have destroyed the suit case nukes but said it in a way that left room for many of them to have been stolen and used by a terrorist group.

                              Point 2:

Correct me if I am wrong but there are real suit case nukes and the Russians did make them. Today that is what many people fear that the terrorist will one day get there hands on is a suit case nuke. Also see point one for why it is not unrealistic to change it from 1 to 5.

I watched Allias for a little bit, and the two are no where near like each other. 24 is way better.

                              • I agree, it's much better than Alias, which seemed to have trouble deciding whether it was a cartoon or a satire. Don't get me wrong, I love 24. But they are a bit, um, liberal with the flow of their story arcs at times.
