At clubs $10 is a pretty standard price for a drink.

And no, I don't drink beer, that is for mixed drinks.

Right now I have 34 cents and a maxed-out VISA.
On grocery day I have $40 and change.
I am on a mission to see how much coffee it takes to actually achieve time travel.

I get paid biweekly. On payday, I put S$225 (about $150 USD) in my wallet, and watch it slowly go down as I pay for lunch, transportation, and my biweekly haircut. My wife carries around the rest of the money.

              biweekly haircut? are you serious?

I think it's time for a poll of how often you get your hair cut. Which I was thinking about doing anyways. I can't right now because I'm at my 2 thread limit.

I really stretch things with haircuts. Every 2 months for me.

I rarely spend money, and don't need to carry cash. The only thing I need to pay for is gas (or petro for you funny types). Many places still charge higher rates for using credit cards, so I still pay for gas with cash. My grocery (and other) shopping I do with credit cards. And I really have no life, so I don't need cash for that. . I either eat at home or at work. I almost never eat out.

True. The hair only needs a slight trim after 2 weeks. But my beard goes from "sharp-dressed-man" to "lumberjack" in that time, and I suck at trimming it myself; so I go for the shave, but have them re-razor-trim the hair out of vanity. As a middle-aged, overweight guy whose job requires a boring wardrobe, I take my vanity where I can get it.

                    • actually I thought of biweekly as twice a week. Kind of like biannually. Every 2 weeks isn't too bad.

My hair doesn't grow that fast, but sometimes you have the annoying neck hair.

Yeah, cheques are something I vaguely remember my parents using when I was like 7 or 8 or so. I've actually used them once or twice in my lifetime, but nowadays I just use a card or online banking. (Like Sir Ralph, I haven't set foot in a bank for years.) Debit or credit? Well, I have both and I use both, but usually debit (check card if you like) since I don't have any issues with my checking account (meaning that I always have money there to pay for stuff). Basically, I use a credit card when travelling abroad or making large purchases and my debit card for everything else (and when I do use credit, I pay off the whole amount before getting charged any interest on it). I have 4 different cards, but one is a debit card for an account I don't really use and one is a corporate visa from my employer, so in my daily life I switch between two cards, one debit and one credit. The corporate visa? Well, I use that when travelling or otherwise paying for stuff that my work is supposed to be paying for. The card is in my name and I still get the bill and have to pay it, but any and all transactions on this card are automatically recorded in my company's accounting system. So, after a business trip, instead of filling out a bunch of papers and sending in paper receipts and stuff like that, I just log in and get a list of transactions recorded on my card, mark the ones that are relevant for this trip and indicate what was paid for, then I save and close and the money from my employer is usually on my checking account before I get the credit card bill. It's actually pretty neat.

Oh, and how much cash do I carry? Well, umm... not much, really. Actually, I have been known to go around for days with no cash at all - and usually not having any problems with it.

                        • The only bad thing about the place I work at is that they dont do direct deposite. They are a small company and when I started I ask if I could get Direct Deposite and they said they could not do at that time, and would offer it when they got bigger. So I still have to go to the bank everytime I get paid.

                          • you could use deposit envelopes. That's what I've been using (though we are going to direct deposit this pay period I believe)

and I still use checks to pay bills via the mail. Because some of these *******s charge extra fees to pay bills online.

I rather go into the bank and do it myself. Just to make sure they dont put a hold on it or something like that. As for paying bills online, your bank should have a free online bill pay service.

Rather annoyingly it means either depending on context. Better all round to say fortnightly for meaning every two weeks.
