Nope, still struggling to break the £20 barrier here in Cardiff doing that...!

But then we can avoid stupid considerations like taxis, entrance charges and crazy London drinks prices...

Currently got about £15 in the wallet and take out £50 at the ATM when required - which can last up to a week. Everything else goes on the credit cards!
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

    • I havea two dollar bill in my wallet right now, been there a few weeks. CAn't use it in my vending machines at work, and haven't bothered to swap for 2 ones from a friend. Once I do unload it, I won't have any cash on me.

Well, I have both and I use both, but usually debit (check card if you like) since I don't have any issues with my checking account (meaning that I always have money there to pay for stuff). Basically, I use a credit card when travelling abroad or making large purchases and my debit card for everything else …………………

Oh, and how much cash do I carry? Well, umm... not much, really. Actually, I have been known to go around for days with no cash at all - and usually not having any problems with it.
        I just carry money for taxi (I don’t drive – lucky me! ), and my credit/debit cards. R$100, maybe 120... It's like U$46 ~ 50, or €35 ~ 42.
Me too, I haven't set foot in a bank for years… But I do use cheques regularly... I have to pay pension to my kids and ex-wife, and I do this by cheque. This was an advice from my lawyer. My secretary makes the deposit in her account…

Odd comment IMHO-- IF you put everything on your cards you have a RECORD of all transactions so they are easy to track. ITs only a problem for people that cannot CONTROL spending. Those folks should probably just take out cash and spend no more than the set amount of cash

My other wallet usually has no cash, but sometimes can have up to a couple hundred dollars. But that wallet has my credict cards and drivers license.
I just think its sad how many of you have to determine how much cash to carry by the fear of getting mugged. Whuile it does happen here, its rare enough that it doesn't influence how much cash I carry.

I generally get 200-300 whenever I am at a no-fee ATM. Whenever I am down to $30 or less I'll make a point of replenishing

I haven't been there for any normal banking transactions in years --i.e. deposits or withdrawals-- But I have been there to deal with my investments and mortgage stuff as that is where my financial planner happens to be.

Do you realize who you're talking to? Are you insane?

Hmmm--If someone wants to come after me for $30-300 based on a posting here-- let them come. .. .

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who carries more than a pittance around. There must be as much chance of getting the flat burgled as there is of getting mugged, so leaving cash in the flat doesn't make me feel safer.

I like using cash, as I find something Orwellian about leaving an electronic trail of my consumption and spending habits.

                  • I usually have somewhere between $5 and $60 in my wallet. Right now I have ten bucks and some change.

Well any required payment should be done in a way that you get a record. Since your ex-wife and kids are unlikely to give receipts (or forget after a time even if they do) you should make such payments in a way that YOU have a clear and verifiable record.

We need someone from an impoverished corner of eastern Europe to brag about how they can have an entire night out on 1 Euro just to put this into perspective.

Of course, I don't keep any substantial money in my flat either. In fact, I generally leave no money at all there when I leave it.

You obviously don't get out much, cos if you did you'd know it's one of the top clubbing destinations in the UK...

When you live in Camden, the provinces are of little interest. Anyway, my clubbing days are mostly behind me. Live music is my main thing now.
