BTW, since Arabic is ALSO the script used by Farsi, and we have a concentration of exiles here, when I see an flier on a lamppost in Arabic as often as not its for a rally of opponents of the current regime in Iran.

There are some things I dont accept "****" around on, and the minimization of 9/11 is one of them
Who's talking minimization?
The terrorist attacks that day were one of the worst acts committed by a group of people that small (19 + a couple of dozen others probably).
But in terms of risks, terrorist attack doesn't even figure on my radar.
Should the national government be concerned? Of course it should be. It has a role to play in protecting its citzens from attack. But the public basically went insane for about 2 years afterward. The national media sold fear by the bucket, and people bought it. Sanity is slowly returning, but far too slowly for my tastes.

We get more Lebanese in Montreal, so it's all falafel restaurants.
Wow... they sat in the wrong seats because they thought they'd been upgraded to first class. Apparently that's now a federal offense... being mistaken as to your seat and all.
They just *happened* to have sat in a seat configuration that is associated with terrorism? Just ... randomly?
I call BS.
There's obviously a difference in how the two sides remember the facts here, in that the imams claimed to have prayed quietly, and to the side, while the passengers and crew claimed they were praying loudly and not off to the side ... ANY group that prayed loudly I would object to, as creating a disturbance.
But in either event, Imran, you have to recognize that regardless of the twitchiness people are displaying nowadays, one must display some common sense and avoid doing things that imply terrorism. Even if it's something that normally would not be a problem, the fact is that doing things that are highly similar to terrorist acts is stupid, and quite frankly aggressive. I would be highly surprised to find out that any of this was accidental - as the WT writer says, I suspect it was an intentionally set up action to generate sympathy and/or permit a lawsuit. Nobody would be that stupid otherwise ...

With all the Iraqis here, you'd think one'd see more Arabic script than what one does.

You should try Persian food. When i had it last, I also dropped some spare change in the box for the "student movement for democracy in Iran" or whatever it was called. Probably a CIA front, but that dont bother me.

This is ridiculous. In India, we're so used to seeing Arabic and Urdu script everywhere that nobody gives it a second thought. Associating a script with terrorists is just plain stupid.
Grow some balls. And, if it isn't too much to ask, some brains to go with them.

I repeat... how does one recognize such a seat configuration? This is the first timeI've ever heard of there being "seat configurations" that are associated with terrorism. Isn't it safe to assume that there will always be people seated in the seats in question? How does one know that they do not know each other?

No what is ridiculous is that this we're so scared in the US meme is being taken as FACT. Complete BS being pawned off so that certain people can feel smug and superior.
For all the talk of mass hysteria I have yet to see it.

Well now you know, this choice, sitting astride all the exits, was the one selected by the september 11th hijackers. I'd imagine that air marshalls, flight attentants, and others watch for this, and other signs.
