    • Then debate how cars/trucks are essential to modern life and smoking is nothing but an addiction for weak-willed people.
My debate isn't "cars/trucks" its unecessarily enormous cars and trucks. Maybe if people viewed these automobiles as grotesque as people viewed smoking, then we would have moved a lot further into alternative technology but we haven't because people have labeled these types of automobiles "okay" and "neat".

And yes cars/truck pollution yes pollution have been linked to numerous lung conditions, such as asthma.

P.S. I suggest you look into what comes out of a tail-pipe and tell me it doesn't pollute. Then again I guess you could be right, I guess decades of scientific research could be wrong.

This whole... but my friends wanted to go in... or people have no choice but to work there stuff is all crap. It is your choice on whether you want to enter or not.
You don't have to be exposed to second hand smoke if yo don't want to.

Smoking is not illegal in this country. Someday it may, but now it isn't. If a bar owner wants to allow it, I say fine. Let the market decide... not the majority. Because if we let the majority always dictate to others, minorities in all areas will stay screwed...
you dont have any qualms with other forms of the government mandating private use do you?

Of course you have as much a right to smoke in the designated areas!

And the public has a right to decide what those designated areas are!

          So get over it.

(BTW: I think you'll find smoking is more socially accessible than homosexual PDAs in public. I dare you to kiss a female friend in a restaurant and see what happens vs you lighting up a smoke).

I know that... and have stated my opinion on that subject repeatedly.

However, there are some people that see gay marriage as destructive to society. That it is harmful to society and to their straight marriages. They most likely would see the two as similar. And you know that majority argument...

Yeah cause having a smoke in a bar filled with adults is just like running through a playground...good comparison

I completely agree. I drive a compact car.

I'm just saying car/truck pollution alone doesn't kill NEARLY as many people a year as smoking does, and they're FAR more necessary for modern society than smoking is...

                      • Actually, given the accepted heath effects of tobacco I don't see why the manufacture, import, and sale of these products is legal.

What chafes is that the government is gleefully taxing the **** out of pruducts that they treat the users of as some sort of second class citizenry.

I can understand that many Americans believe the government serves to serve their religious beliefs. It doesn't.

They can have every right to vote against gay marriage if they want, but when it comes to an issue of civil rights, it's out of their hands.

There is nothing about smoking in public places that is a real civil rights issue.
