About the Honda Civics, those new ones seems to be selling pretty well in the US, so maybe Honda got it right. I personally love the look of them. They're roomy inside, too. Also, people modify Civics because parts are available for them all over the place. You used to actually be able to take engine parts from the Integras and Preludes and put them in a Civic. Plus they used to have very good underpinnings/suspension systems, which were rare for that class of car. Honda manual transmissions had better feel than some BMWs. I don't really know much about the new ones though. I just can't stand the look of the Corollas. It's like a boyracer car took a suppository.
edit: I could be more helpful if I knew more English/European small cars. The Civic is a good get, but there may be something else out there.
Cars these days have more horsepower, better gas millage, and drive better than ever. That's my pep talk for the car hunt! Good luck.

) and it was overdue for a service (they hadn't done one) and had no spare key which would also need replacing (also not cheap). Huge points at which I would knock them down, plus some jumped up £71 admin charge! I just walked out and left him my address and phone number and told him to contact me if he wishes to make a sensible deal
