Again, if one can't respond to Whaleboy on Whaleboy's own terms without saying something stupid, one shouldn't respond on Whaleboy's own terms.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

Oooh, that has to be one of the lamest comeback seen in this thread so far I bathe in the respect of many, thankyou very much

And I see my sex life is managing to make an appearance in this thread now. Bankrupt of arguments to come back to me with other than trying to badger me into admitting that religion isn't make-believe?

Completely different concepts. My opinion differs to yours considerably, but there is no right or wrong. I could call you irrational for being a Republican

Ok, not the best analogy ever, but it does have the advantage of being pretty funny.

Did you actually read the thread or just the title? If you don't come back with the right sequence of events within the next hour, I automatically dub thee a dumbf**k

No, I'm serious. Religion and fairy tales have different roles and different perceptions in society. That's why the same person believes in Jesus and not Santa.

Logic is essentially irrelevant to people's actual religious beliefs - including atheists'.

            • So it is about a matter of scale then?

Sometimes it seems like people on Apolyton don't want to have discussions. Instead, they effect these deliberately obtuse attitudes that obfuscate their opponent's points so that they no longer feel as if they have to defend their own.

                Anyways. It's really very simple.

Whaleboy: I believe agnosticism (50/50) is false because I think odds are against there being a god. Look at evolution.

Jon Miller: I believe you cannot make the claim that agnosticism (50/50) is false because the validity of evolution is not evidence against god's existence.

Obtuse people: God, JM, you can't say that it's 50/50 because you don't actually know one way or another. Way to be stupid.

Jon Miller: Uh. Uh. I'm not even agnostic! wtf!

                • ... and there it would have ended, hadn't JM decided to defend the 50/50 claim.

                  • *shrug* I'm not really going to argue his points for him, especially when I don't even support them. I just think this whole thing is a pretty silly debate that doesn't pertain to the subject at hand.

I wanted to clear up what he actually meant in the hopes that it would get people back to the thread's topic.

You know, a huge whopping fairy tale that has, for some reason, gained strength and legitimacy through its sheer age and influence on the establishment in this time?

What would be your suggestion on managing this feat?

Surreal, isn't it? Stuff going off in all directions, like a bar-room brawl.

Like someone said earlier - good troll, Whaleboy.

The "feat" being responding to Whaleboy? I'm not sure I get your drift.
