    This was a mid-term election.

I believe I started out the day with a gesture of congratulations.

Only after reading sore Whiner err....winner statements did my mood start to sour.

      Yes, that means Arrian.

      • Yes, it does (to the extent that saying I had thought about it is the same as specifically threatening/promising to leave in the event of a Bush victory). I was very, very disappointed and angry.

And like I said, if in 2008 Hillary wins and the Dems retain control of both houses of Congress and you people manage to remain gracious in defeat, THEN go ahead and pat yourselves on the back.

            • In this election cycle, Hillary Clinton spent more money than any other candidate involved in an election. And she did not have strong opposition. It's likely she spent so much in order to get exposure so she could build momentum for 2008.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Oddly, in a recent CNN poll, "Hillary Rodham Clinton" does better against McCain then "Hillary Clinton" but against Giuliani its the reverse. To which i can only ask, WTF?

Yeah, I wouldn't put too much stock into such polls. And when you take the margin of error into consideration, the numbers could go either way.

I saw that same report. It was an interesting premise, but I doubt the effect of having "Rodham" on the ballot is going to influence many people's votes.

                    • Montana has just been called for the Democrats.

50-49 Dems with only Va yet to be officially decided...and it looks like it will go Democrat as well. That would make it 51-49 Dems and begin a new era of divided government.

I am actually looking forward to seeing if the dems can put forward some fresh ideas. I really couldn't see much concrete in their election rhetoric.

                      • Of course not... concrete plans probably wouldn't help them because it would've given the Republicans something to pick apart. Instead, they concentrated on the track record of the Repubs - mainly Iraq. That was smart.

Whether they actually have much of a plan remains to be seen.

We would rather see a new policy in Iraq: going back to the Clintonian strategy of cruice missiles instead of boots on the ground.

Well the Contract with America seemed to have served the Republicans well in thier attempt to gain the majority and actually had bills attached to it. I don't know why a Democrat version of something like that wouldn't have been as sucessful.
