It is quite amusing to me how the right, after raging on Clinton for having his fun with Monica, now seeks to minimise these "naughty messages".
Perhaps it isn't the case that Republicans have values but, just like democrats, play politics when they feel they must.

The Republicans are too busy investing their energies in investigating all the other issues, like electoral fraud, billions of dollars given to contractors in Iraq that are simply missing, the Bush Administration's mishandling of post-Saddam Iraq, the lies that got us there. There's only so much outrage they can expend at one time; it's a finite resource and they depleted their stock during the Clinton years. GIve them some credit: When they first learned of Foley's fooling, they immediately did - erm - something, they just can't remember what right now. BUt hey, now they're giving money they received that was connected to Foley to charity, so that makes everything all better, better than investigations! Better than rainbows and unicorns!

Maybe this has been mentioned in this thread, but what are the laws surrounding sex with "minors" in DC? I know that's not what Foley did, but I keep hearing that the age of consent in DC is 16, but I swear I've heard some law that says "consent at 16," but not if one member is over 4 years older than the other until both are over 18. That is, 16 and 17 year olds are off limits to 21 and 22 year olds, or something. Does anyone know?
The absolute age of consent is 16 in DC. If one of the parties is UNDER 16, it isn't statutory rape if the other party is within 4 years of age.
