Amen. This is just the Republicans attempting to trump up something because they're getting slaughtered in the press just weeks before the election. Neys just plead guilty to accepting bribes in the Jack Abramoff scandal and was forced to resign then you have Folley having sex with one page and preditorially trolling and inappropriately touching several other underage boys. The worst part is Republican leadership knew he was doing this but tried to hush it up so that the Republicans could keep control of Folley's seat.

When people base a big part of their election on stoking anti-gay hatred and claiming to represent "family values" then their voters have a right to be upset when the leadership knows a guy is molesting little boys but decided to keep it quiet and hope no one finds out about it.

There was one, 21 year old page, who has said he had sex with Folley. The two were consenting adults so I don't have a problem with this one except that it is still a Congressman in his 40's (or is it 50's?) trolling for sex with Congressional pages and that is inappropriate. Then you have the fact that on internet chats with underage pages Folley was siliciting sex with minors. We should all have a big problem with that especially since where there is smoke their is usually fire.

Drake you need to face reality. Folley didn't resign and get shoved out the door by his party because he was an innocent man. He resigned because he did silicit sex with minors and in all probability did have sex with children. That's pedophilia.

And I'm inclined to believe you pick and chose editorials which are to your political liking.

I have $1 which says NOTHING comes of this and it is all bogus bullsh!t trumped up by the Republicans because they've had two major scandals forcing two of their Congressmen to resign just weeks before the election. The Republicans stated strategy is paint the ethics problems as a Washington issue instead of where the blame truly belongs... I.E. with the Republican leadership as well as the various Congressmen themselves.

The major corruption issues are going to always be with the party in power. If you are going to bribe someone then you are going to bribe someone with power who can help you. Thus since the Republicans control everything they are going to be the ones who will have most of the corruption and unethical behavior since why would anyone bribe someone who is out of power and can't help them?

None of the pages could be considered as anything close to children.

Minor, possibly. But I would expect a Republican to resign if they were outed as homosexual, and this includes other inapprioriateness so it makes sense.

While I think that the republicans are worse (especially right now), I think that you have become like a Drake for the democrats. (ie taking their partisan positions to the point of rediculousness)

Who's bending over backwards. I'm no friend of Reid or the Democrats. I just don't see a scandal here. As an LLC, Reid was limited from damages, but he also takes a double hit on the income taxes from the sale. Oooh, he did report he paid more in taxes. Oooh. Must be some serious corruption.

Oerdin is right. This is GOP flailing at something, anything, to try and retain a hold on power. Frankly its a little pathetic. I'd think there must be some much bigger fish to fry, but I guess Jefferson got caught too early.

Still, the House leadership hasn't removed Bob Ney from his position, and even though Hastert says itwill be the first order of business when they return, he will collect $10,000 of our money in paychecks, unless he resigns, which he won't. Then there's all the money he collected while he was on trial. The leadership should have removed him months ago.

In Foley's case, it doesn't meet any of the criteria of the definition. The correct classification would be creepy pervert, IMO.

IIRC, the earliest that could have happened would have been sometime in September when he signed papers agreeing to plead guilty.

They could have done it much sooner than that. The Constitution allows the members of the House to remove other members for any reason, so long as 2/3rds of the House concurs.
