It might as well be the case that someone wants us to believe he's dead. I've stopped believing anything that's not clear and obvious fact in this so called war against terror.

It'd be ironic if an illness claimed Osama bin Laden's life, considering all of the ordnance, time and lives that have been used/lost/affected over the last five years in the pursuit of him.

It'd be ironic if there'd been an honest pursuit of him, instead of lip-service and fear-mongering.

True. I've questioned many of Bush's foreign policy decisions ever since he and his buddies decided Iraq was the central front in the Global War on Terrorism (TM, Republican Party, 2001).

I guess it's purely coincidence that this news-hype is presented just in time for the elections, huh?

It might not be possible for the U.S. government to keep Bin Laden's death a secret, and choose when they want to reveal this fact (for example, at the right time during elections).

BUT, it could be even more feasible for the government to leak some substantial rumors that might be half-based on some facts to the media in time for U.S. elections so that people can be duped to vote for bad Republicans.

I wouldn't call it purely natural causes. He's been living in remote areas (as in caves), in the weather and couldn't get to a doctor. That's what's being rumored.

Are you going to be one of those who call this (if true) the american government bringing bin laden to justice?

Reminds me of a political cartoon. I can't find a picture, but it showed a bunch US presidents saying:

                      Kennedy: Fidel...
                      Johnson: ... Castro ...
                      Nixon: ... will ...
                      Ford: ... die ...
                      Carter: ... any ...
                      Reagan: ... day ...
                      Bush Sr: ... now.

Well Jon, as I see it he's been living 5 years in caves. If you want to call that living, feel free.

Living free is the point, Sloww. Free from incarceration, free from justice. Here is a man who, since leaving the comforts of a Saudi royal's life, has been "living in caves" for many years prior to 9/11 of his own volition and still living free from any sort of punishment. Yes, I'd call that living. I'd rather he be rotting ...in a cell, for as long as we can reasonably maintain his life. No sweet mercy of death for him; he shouldn't get off that easily.

This is not really good campaign news, since we're really not the ones who got him. At best, it means our worst enemy has lost its inspirational leader through no effort of our own; at worst, it underscores the incompetance of those who claimed to be hunting him down.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

So binladen didn't take his Typhoid vaccine before travel? That wasn't smart.
