Maybe it's true that they didn't have confirmation, but that confirmation was forthcoming shortly. Maybe we give the CIA too much credit in knowing for sure.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Regarding the funeral, I would guess that the military has slightly different rules of engagement than the CIA. I wonder who has jurisdiction over those drones...

Isn't he reported to have died about once a year? And then sends out a fresh video some months later?

No videos for quite a while. Maybe this is a ploy by the US to get him to surface in one fashion or another.

            Hum.

What I want to know is exactly how much pain was he in.

Maybe it's a sting operation to let him make a new video, track back when it's handed over to the media and get him.

              Then they report he's dead.

You simply can't say someone is dead because they "might" be. That's ridiculous. Get back to us when it's known.

What does it matter if you hit a cemetary? Hopefully they're already dead.

Yah, repeat that the next time some "satan worshippers" go around topling headstones and spraying obscenities in your local cemetary.

The .mil announced their reason in a press conference a few days back; supposedly there was a small village not shown in the frame released to the media, and they were concerned that a number of women and children would have strolled over to the funeral to participate. Whether or not that's just PR I don't know, but it's the only explanation offered anyway.

And the last genuine proofs-of-life he could offer were consistently only audio, which was theorized to be because of deteriorating health (albeit from kidney failure, not typhoid). That makes today's story all the more likely IMO, but we'll see.
                          Unbelievable!

Maybe the reason why it was not bombed, if bin was buried there, is to not detroy the corpse

                              Good point, Brachy.

Honestly, it doesn't make much difference whether he's alive or dead, captive or on the run. Al Qaeda as a central command structure has been pretty much annihilated, and the terror threat to the West today is based on separate cells with purely ideological ties to Al Qaeda, rather than actual operational ones.

About the only real significance his body temperature has now is for the purpose of public relations, for either side. And I suppose there's the satisfaction of seeing justice done to this monster.

In Islam, can someone be considered a martyr if they died by illness?
