  • Still quiet so far. Well, that's if you go off activity rather than named storms, which are now ten a penny.

    • I am keeping a slightly squinted eye to our southeast, by this time next week it should be a little clearer what may happen with TD Four

      • I love this thread

        EL NINO, you ****ing ******!

You really are a piece of work how you totally ignore the facts presented before you that completely and utterly shoot down your argument...

You asked where the hurricanes went last year - the answer is El Nino.
        and this year?

I'm telling you guys, when the middle to higher latitudes are warmer there's less "pressure" on the planet to re-distribute heat. If El Ninos (warmer waters in the E Pacific) inhibit hurricane production in the Atlantic, then warmer waters in the E Pacific due to "global warming" regardless of what you call the cycle will inhibit hurricane production in the Atlantic.

        • Well, maybe the hurricanes found out that NASA has messed up their temperature measurements - 1998 is only the second hottest year in US - 1934 are still at the top

Edit: Here is a fun comment on this (remember to take on your tinfoil hat before clicking)

This is really big news, and a fabulous example of why two-way scientific discourse is still valuable, in the same week that both Newsweek and Al Gore tried to make the case that climate skeptics were counter-productive and evil. Climate...

I heard that (but strangely, not from Al Gore ).

That chart is actually quite interesting - it seems that before 1930 the temperature consequently was lower than normal.

                • I think that's because of the Victorian era, when no one was having any sex. The chilling effects lingered for decades after Queen Victoria's death. It was only with the invention of the flapper than the Earth's temperature began to return to normal.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the dodgy temperature record.

www.surfacestations.org and Anthony Watts' blog are good places to learn about this..

                      • Love charts, ect.

Gotta tell ya, when we get our next down here on coastal southeastern North Carolina, I cant wait to read what caused/did not cause it to happen at a differing intensity.

I feel for those it does impact, but like my Dad told me years ago, its gonna be you and me all the way down the line, until its gonna be you or me!
