I'm not an expert on Denmark, by any means, but these are a few services that I guess you get "for free" (i.e paid for by taxes, but not by the individual user):
- police protection of the citizens
- military protection on the territory
- judicial process for the accused.
- diplomatic assistance in case of a problem abroad.

I might be wrong, of course, and it could well be that the Danish institutions charge the individuals to protect them.

1. And so are people who live in the posh parts of Copenhagen, yet they still don't have to hand out a 500 Kronor bill when the police prevents a robbery on their persons.

2. If you really want to go to Lebanon (for example, to make your yearly or bi-yearly visit to your family), you will generally be able to afford it, unless you are in the dire straits. Such a travel can be a big financial sacrifice, and can be a sink for monthes worth of savings, but it's doable if you have a job and a pay that gives you more than survival.

They won't be billed, but I think they shold be, for the reasons I already stated.

What will happen OTOH, is that they'll be checked up on by social authorities when back in the country so as to ensure that none of them were unlawfully receiving social benefits while vacationing abroad. Raised a major outcry from chronically non-inluential Leftists here when it was announced today..

Besides that, he isn't right about the check. If it happens, it will be as part of normal procedure for checking such things - DF proposed it, but it is shot down by the government.

The Minister for Employment said he expected municipal authorities (and others) to make use of all available information to aid in their task of preventing social fraud from being committed.

You don't think the Ministry will follow up after a while as to whether or not municipalities have done so?

As I said, It would be normal procedure and not a mass check as DF has suggested, wich means that your claim doesn't hold water.

You forget that I'm not one of the outsiders - you claimed that the lefties went beserk, but that was due to the DF demand of an mass check, not the government saying that the social authorities should do what they always have done.
