And then there's the small factor that we're the largest trading partner, and largest source of foreign energy for the world's only remaining super power.

I imagine we get more than the odd mention over breakfast in Washington.

Especially when it's the Canucks' turn to command NORAD.

How about the UN Landmine treaty?

How much did Italy do to influence events in Apartheid South Africa?

Canada helped lead the Commonwealth, over Britain's objections, into expelling SA and beginning the embargo that brought the regime down.

What exactly has Italy done other than be 50-50 in world wars? And late to the show in both cases.

There're many reasons Canada is in the G8. I'm not arguing that Italy shouldn't be there. OTOH, you'd have to be an ignorant hick to argue that Canada shouldn't be.

If you drive a Toyota Matrix, 100% of it was made in Canada. in Cambridge, Ontario, to be precise. It's the only assembly plant that makes them.

And yes, we did essentially create the UN Peacekeeping forces, and the landmine treaty.

And then we started electing oafs as leaders, and it all went downhill.

Sorry for not quoting soooo many correlative posts, it would be too boring.

So NYE, it is worse that i thought. All you can say is that Canada as for instance Bulgary or Rumania has in his territory many foreign car factories (mainly from USA), that have some troops in Afganistan (to please USA) and that the they have people working in the NORAD (another USA thingy). Your exports are almost totally to USA. I would say you are nothing but another USA state.

We discover then that the key to see how strong important and relevant is any economy in the world is his "per-capita exports". In such case i wonder what the hell is USA doing in the G8. And why super-powers like Belgium, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia or Netherlands are not.

And then you post some punctual insignificancies to show how important Canada is, being the decisive moment you are so proud of when Canada dared to act without the approval of his metropoli. To reinforce so many weak points you even remark how bad italy did at the world war.

The only objetive remark that deservers some attention:
