Ironic, because I was just thinking about this earlier today.
I'm leaning towards supporting oil drilling on the continental shelf, which puts me to the right of Governors Bush and Schwartenegger on this issue.
I'm reconsidering my historically strong support of minimum wage laws. The result of these laws appears to be circumvent them by bringing in millions of illegal immigrants. I'm wondering of a lower minimum wage [did I really say that?!?] wouldn't open these jobs up to Americans.
Oh yeah, I'd I've alway been pro-balanced-budget ever since Barry Goldwater convinced me of the wisdom of this idea back in '64. Sadly, the Repugs seemed to have abandoned this cornerstone of their philosophy.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Then this point should be the one on your agenda then, no?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus
I don't believe there are right wing or left wing things people would support. There are issues that people support or do not support, that's it.

Zkribb, your thinking on min wage don't make no sense. If Americans won't work for $6 an hour at sucky jobs, why would they line up to work those same jobs at $4/hour?

Zkrib! You're to the right of me on this stuff. I'm for raising the minimum wage and against more drilling until we enact mpg regulations.
You wacko nazi!
This is a very recent trend in me...and I don't know if it will last.
--But just this morning, I was watchin a "talking heads" show. A local economist stated L.A.'s No. 1 industry is not trade, is not the movie industry, but is the service industry. And it is based in large part on employing illegal immigrants. Let's say we paid them minimum wages--what would happen to the prices of our hotels? Of our restaurants?
--Of course, you people in Oregon don't have the situation with the illegals that we have down here. So maybe it's not the doom and gloom situation I'm perceiving.

Prices would go up, so? You can afford it.
True....but L.A.'s third biggest industry is tourism. What happens if L.A. becomes too expensive and tourists start going elsewhere? Crud, we might have to go out an get honest jobs.
