Hmm, given how all over the place the "right" is, I can;t think of any things I support that are exclusively "rightwing" ideas.

I don't believe in God and Country, and I am a total believer in humanism and the ability of human beings to better themselves. I don't believe in the posibility of an objective morality. Since I share almost none of the basic intellectual underpinnings of conservatism, I can see why I share so few if any of their ideas.

The problem with that line of thinking is the evidene doesn't really support it. Many min wage positions go unfilled. When was the last time you went to a fully staffed fast food place that? Fed. min wage is $5.15 /hour. You can't barely get teenagers to work for that anymore. Many of the jobs that illegal immigrants take aren't below min wage. For example, the meat packing industry thread shows the average wage at over $11/hour (more than twice FMW). It's just the job is so hard and disgusting that most Americans won't do it.

Which isn't to say there aren't people working long crappy jobs for that sub-living wage (or less if they are an exempt employee). There are about three million who do so, about half of whom are adults.

I don't think the minimum wage applies for migrant farmhands and for people who work in many jobs in the restaurant industry. So many jobs held by illegals were never covered by the minimum wage.

My most right wing position would have to be something David Horowitz said, and to which I cannot disagree: You cannot build socialism with the kind of people you see on Jerry Springer. He's right. A lot of people suck. Badly.
