It's been that way in Calgary since at least 1983 when I was born -- all of the doctors my parents talked to said it was unnecessary and not recommended, so they didn't do it.

Do you know if Alberta Health covers the cost of it anymore?

Thank god I've been snipped then, I've already considered penile reduction surgery and was only convinced not to do so by intervention of thousands of women who wanted to at least keep the dream alive.

That's very scary, and a bit unprofessional in my not-so-humble opinion. It's amazing that the professional organizations across the globe do not recommend the procedure be done without medical reasons, at the least.

It sounds to me like the study was completed. Please note the date. What separates this studies from all of those done before ( combined in Van Howe's metanalysis ) except Bwayo's is that it is a randomized, controlled, prospective study. Unlike Bwayo's study it utilized a very large population. It was about as comprehensive a study as can reasonably be done.

"Although the study shows promising protective effects of adult male circumcision in reducing HIV acquisition, UNAIDS emphasizes that more research is needed to assess the repeatability of the findings............ "

Would anyone have expected any other recommendation from an international gathering of researchers?

What a pity that no one could be arsed to find a copy of the actual report or a report on the actual data.
