It's never okay to hate people for their politics, but I hate America-haters like those liberals. They're positively Hitlerian in their beliefs--after all, what is Fascism but another form of Leftism?

They do both end with 'ism'. He has a point.

grog want tank...Grog Want Tank... GROG WANT TANK!

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

              Vince, NOOOO!

Rufus, I agree, liberals don't hate. They love. Bush, Reagan, it makes me wanna buy flowers and put them on balloons and release them. Ohh, ahhh.

"because we don't have the balls to."

"or when their politics motivate haters"

Japher, well said. However that's really the question I'm asking. Sometimes it seems to me that politicians focus on what divides us, to attain power. In this they even will go against the effort of the nation, even when mens lives are on the line. However the war is not the point of the thread, the hate mongering system is. Playing on the hopes and fears and faith/anti faith of the people. Then, when they get everyone into a lather and get their position of power, nothing changes. Except of course, in forums like this where people bring their baggage to unload in endless discussions of the 'issues'. Which are just the most recent bait on the hook, the latest bucket of hate for the consumers of it, us.

              "if you're a douchebag."

Q Cubed, one mans douchbag is anothers hero.

"i take it that no one should hate hitler?"
Boris, I hate Hitler, it's good to hate Hitler. He was a douchbag.

SlaughterMeyer, as usual, you get it.

"Lancer, in another thread I commented on the recent episode of 24 where the show's main character was just about to kill the president of the United States. I hadn't seen earlier shows to see why the main character would go so far, but I was shocked by the program. It actually seemed to be saying that assassinating the president can be, at times, OK."

Ned, well said. This can only be seen as ok by the citizenry if they have been totally desensitized by the political business of hate. Only then can such things be seen as ok, as acceptable for national TV.

"I don't hate people who disagree with my politics. It just means the're stupid"

Kid, many times I've felt this way. The fact of it is, we're all wanting many of the same things, but approaching them from different dircetions. As an example, There are those of us, myself included, who believe in peace through strength. Others, honorable in their intentions, seek unilateral disamament because, darnit, guns kill people. Same goal, different understandings. All it takes is a politico to whip it into a hate issue to get the votes they need. If you support defense you're against education. If you support disarmament your anti American...etc.

OooOOOOooooh. Relativism! One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter.

We're fighting freedom fighters over there so we don't have to fight them here...

I have no problem with that. Given a chance I'll kill one of their freedom fighters before he blows up my airplane. No problem at all.

                      Thanks

We had a bit of a situation on our return flight from Hong Kong. First of all I noticed alot of arab looking guys on the plane. Secondly, there weren't any arab looking women... Then, there was a delay taking off. Finally the captain came on the intercom and asked for Mohamed Khan, Abdullah Khan, and a couple of other Khans to present themsewlves to a cabin attendant. A little while later they announced that all the bags would have to be removed from the plane for a routine security inspection. I thought about getting the family off the plane, but decided it was being dealt with by the ever efficient communist chinese. Finally, plane still filled with arabs, we took off.

I was ready. I well remember 9/11 and the change in security proceedures since then. You attack hijackers these days.

Considering the situation, I decided that we were safe until the plane approached the US, and that likely nothing would happen at all, so I slept and watch King Kong. The big ape fought three Rexes, kicked ass, and that got me psyched up for the terrorists.

After the pilot annouced our approach to San Fran, 12 hours later, I watched carefully. Two arabs positioned themselves opposite the stewardess station in front of us, and two behind, which was very close. I got ready to get medieval on the arab guy closest, and waited for them to make their move. However, it was just coincedence, they all went their own way.

I had a plastic knife from dinner, and could have killed him in seconds if they acted to take over the plane.

hating someone for their politics just means you'll have plenty of people to hate...and life is too short to waste it on hate...

Jeez... I hope people don't look at me on a plane and get ready to attack me.

It's good to be ready, that gives the advantage of surprise. My old borderguard unit's slogan 'Toujours Pret', "always ready", taught that even the attacker can be ambushed by the ready. However only a nutball would have attacked before they tried to take the plane. After they tried, only a coward would not. Best to be ready for that instant when one has a chance, while things are still ...changing.

Imran, nothing personal. Just the fact that arabs take over planes and kill people with them. That's the way it is.

The question ought to be rephrased in some manner. I think the question ought to be do we "hate" the overwhelming majority of Germans who supported the "Final Solution."

But the Germans seemed to deny they knew anything about the "Final Solution." For most of us, this is just B.S.

Let's just say that if there is a political axis based on freedom, where the more free one is the more one moves to the right, then what I say about fascism and socialism being to the left is true. The problem is, most people do not define left-right in this way.

However, Q, I think most people hate America because of its stand on freedom, particularly, free enterprise. The left is particularly hostile to free enterprise, wouldn't you agree?
