There's a great show on the National Geographic Channel, where scientists look at religious stuff called Science of the Bible. They had one show on the life of Jesus where they showed that our image of what he must have been like has been distorted by the church over the years. They pointed to specific things like the Sermon on the Mount and said that given the accoustics of the place it's supposed to happen, there's no way this was a real event; rather, it is a collection of Jesus's teachings. And other stuff like that, it was kinda interesting.
