Kaak, you are willfully ignoring some basic economic truths. The oil market is global. You cannot simply consider US demand. It doesn't work that way. You have to consider global demand (as well as global supply, which is impacted by OPEC, for instance).

Arrian, yeah yeah. Either way, KH said US demand had increased significantly in the last couple of years, and he was talking out of his ass. I'm content

You are the one on the defensive now. You find the graph.

First off, you're not considering the entire scope of "US demand" - you omit oil (heating oil, etc). That impacts the price too. Further, considering only domestic demand is just... ignorant. Stupid, even, at this point, because your ignorance has been pointed out... repeatedly.

edit: History degree here, although I started out econ. But this does not require an econ degree to understand! This is basic... Econ101 type ****.

It speaks to the ridiculous hypocracy of it all, though, which the first article also mentions. And the politicos are just a reflection of the nation at large. People whining about gas prices whilst driving SUVs. Boo ****ing hoo.

I was talking to a friend of mine a few days ago. She was *****ing about high gas prices. She lives with her boyfriend and they both are graduate students in physics, so they both work at the same place.
I had seen both her car and his car parked outside every day for the past week.
Kaak couldn't simply stand aside as Kidicious was taking the beating that he, until now, had been! It was the jealously that he wasn't the one being PWNED!

Heating oil? oooh, because a) it has been a very hot year, with a mild winter and b) the NE gets discounted heating oil from Venezuela.
But that's not the point. The point is that KH was busted talking out of his ass.

Oh but is *is* the point. Or rather one of many points - flaws in your "logic."
Any moron can cherry-pick statistics to "prove" a point, if they blithely ignore anything that doesn't fit into their theory. Hell, Bush does it. Case closed.

Oy.
My wife and I carpool, which is great (one of the advantages of working at the same company).
