It speaks to the ridiculous hypocracy of it all, though, which the first article also mentions. And the politicos are just a reflection of the nation at large. People whining about gas prices whilst driving SUVs. Boo ****ing hoo.

Next time oil prices drop to some sort of historical low (inflation-adjusted), can we make a "woe is them" thread for the oil companies then?

Arrian: I say that we propose a "hardship tax credit" for them in that case....the flip side of the "windfall tax", is it not?
In this way, we remove all risk from any business venture, and strip away any significant reward as well.
This should speed the destruction of the US economy nicely.
