  • Do the ends jusitify the means?

Hypothetical: The (former) pop star Michael Jackson has developed an extremely economical cure for cancer. However, he will only tell the world what the cure is if you engage in a night of passionate lovemaking with him. What would you do?

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

                I need more details!!

Do I have to take him in? Or just sucky sucky? Do I have to swallow? Or does he just want me to do him?

regardless, without death, overcrowding would get even worse. And would even further reduce my chances of getting social security when I'm 67. I won't be able to work forever you know. I'd like to be able to retire. Damn baby boomers aren't getting my cancer cure!!

I'll wait till I or someone I loves get cancer, before I reveal the cure. .

Actually I don't. As bad as it is, cancer may very well have be an evolutionary necessity.

Discounting this dumb example, I still voted "No, the ends do not justify the means". Even though it should be "No, the end does not justify the means".

cancer is the primary means of death for those who have healthy hearts etc. This goes along with the immortality thread. If people were immortal, how would you solve the overcrowding problem?

Let's face it, old people are useless, they are milking off the goverment. I know we can't expect them to work. In many countries, including the U.S. empoloyers just won't hire old people. They are important for the family structure of course, and could help raise kids. But most families aren't as close as they used to be, and the kids really don't get to know their grandparents.

Given the choice between saving kids, and saving people over 75 I think the choice is obvious.

                              ...
Means are ends, and ends are means.
                              One thing leads to another.
Just like the child of today
                              Is tomorrow's mother.

So be careful with today's children.
                              Tomorrow they will rule.
And be careful with the things you do,
                              For they'll be ruling too.
