Roman philosophy is largely bastardized Greek philosophy. From a literary perspective some of it is good, but it's not really good philosophy. Even the best philosophy of the later Roman Empire is written in the Greek language.
And de Toqueville isn't really a philosopher either. Sure, he's an interesting guy on his own merits, but he's not really a philosopher.
